I'm working on getting all the data, but for 3 to 5 books, it ranges from $30 to $65 using FedEx ground, 2 day or next day. Insurance is an extra fee. If you know the approximate value, I have those numbers also.

Ok, it would be $30 for FedEx ground shipping, $12 for insurance under $1,000. I just verified that you CAN opt out of the insurance AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! CBCS would not be liable for lost or damaged shipments.

I will be getting a new chart posted soon.

As an FYI, if you have collect insure, as your insurance provider they cover your books return home and to if you use fedex signature confirmation.

I posted exact verbiage on another thread.

@Jesse_O - THIS is what seems ridiculously high to me about the new pricing - $42 shipping and insurance for three modern comics that are worth around $300 each. It used to cost $16 each to have these types of books graded, now it almost costs that much ($14 each) to just have them shipped back to you, without even counting the grading costs. Add in the $20 per book grading fee at the slowest tier, and the cost is up to $34/book.

Quite honestly, I don't ship stuff to know whether the FedEx fees are high or not. I take your word on it though. Quite honestly, I think these fees will result in a lot fewer graded moderns.

what you need to do is send 5 books - have MCS pick them up...keep 2 for sale and they will ship back your other 3...pretty sure at a lower rate!

yep - best to run it by Este at MCS but I have a 10 book order of doubles (5 books doubles of each) that she said they would do that for me when they are graded (2099??)..basically I want to keep the higher grade of the two and sell the lower one

@KatKomics I have a lot of CBCS slabs that I would like to send to MCS for them to sell for me but I don't really know how to go about it. They are already in my possession. Any help would be highly valued.

I don’t think CBCS nor CGC control shipping costs. Unless they’re padding the bill, but that would be eBay status.

@HulkSmash - Based on volume, both CBCS and CGC should be able to negotiate shipping and insurance rates from any major shipping company. Given the turnaround times, each company is shipping out hundreds of packages a week. So how can MCS ship me a mixture of slabs and raw comics for under $20? And it shouldn’t cost either company 2-3X more to ship my books back to me than it cost me to ship the same books to them, even with the added weight of the slabs.

you’d have to get that answer directly from them. I have no idea why CBCS does not use USPS or UPS like MCS. I also don’t know why they are probably figuring packing materials and employee labor costs into the shipping fees.
