$150, it’s 176 pages. That equates to $0.85 a page. If you slab each page and sell for $150 each that’s $26,400. Well worth the investment.

Maybe I'm up past my bed time and really tired, but I don't follow the logic. The pages aren't original so at best they are a couple of cents each. I'd rather just buy the books and slab those, the only thing is some of the pages are interior art....

Thank you sir. May I have another? Siggy private msg quote post Address this user
I have several of the Kirby Artists Editions, and seeing that art full size by scan, with the whiteout, tape, stains, and all, rather than from a stat is AMAZING!
That said, I was extremely disappointed with the McFarlane Spawn #1 Edition. I was shocked at how messy the art looked (to me) at full size. I can't recall at the moment if they are also scans rather than images.
Based on that, I wouldn't pay $150 (standard price) for this, but I'd have no problem paying the same for more Kirby.

It’s Barnes and Noble so it’ll always run a little expensive. I’ll keep an eye out at other retailers and snag it for a better price. Looks like I’ve got until February

Is the Spawn move still on or is McFsrlane still writing the script? Honestly - that movie will never happen. Just a money machine

@dielinfinite

Here is a link that shows multiple preorder sites. I did not include it initially because a few of the links did not work.

@poka

Unknown if it will happen, but mcfarlane has his paws in so much stuff I wouldn't count him out yet. He seems like a really good business man given his success in toys and comics and such.....

Oh I have no doubt he is a good business man = money machine using same art every few years just diff format. Movie too expensive to produce so it will not happen. He will probably do another CGC signing event later this year etc

I collect Artist Editions. - have a little over 30 of them.
One thing to be aware of is that IDW often does Variant covers of them.
They also do signed editions.
But they never mention that until well after the original edition solicitation.

So tread lightly on the orders and instead keep an eye out on a signed edition or a alternate cover edition. These are the one's that Artist Edition collector's go bonkers over and are typically alot of dough.

Example: the Jim Lee Artist Edition can be had for 100- 125. But try getting the signed alternate cover edition of the Jim Lee ARtist Edition. It's over 500/600
The signed, alternate was a special release WELL AFTER the original edition solicitation.

Just fyi

@Nuffsaid111 I wasn’t aware how crazy things got with the variant covers. I love artist’s edition but only really buy the ones I really like but apparently I have a couple of the variants.

I have the Watchmen Convention Exclusive (not the Dave Gibbons Dinner exclusive, unfortunately) and the Frank Miller’s Daredevil variant, which I can’t even find for sale anywhere at the moment to see how it compares, price-wise, to the standard cover.

Yeah, there were 4 versions of IDW's UY Grasscutter. I passed on the Stan Sakai Dinner Exclusive (Gold foil) and went with the original art/clamshell version for $350. Well worth it in my opinion. Only 50 exist (mine has different art though).

I was at that SDCC dinner with Stan Sakai and Walt Simonson for 2 years. (pre-covid).
An original drawing 11 x 14 from either
A super variant artist edition from either; limited to that evening's total attendees
Dinner at Fogo de Chao

Ya can't beat it for $600

Edit: These were the originals I got from Walt that evening. He rarely, if ever, does commissions, and he does not sell his original art. So I'd say I'm more than ecstatic to own these 2 from those two SDCC evenings.

Those are nice! Did you get the extremely limited Sakai/Simonson black and white print?

It's this but black and white.

I don't believe so. And I don't know why not .... lol.
Must have been all that beef, pork, and chicken at Fogo that clouded my head

Every person who purchased both dinners (Sakai & Simonson) were supposed to get a black and white print. I've only seen 2.

EDIT: Found a picture

There were actually 2 variants to the Jim Lee X-Men artist edition. The signed one and the Fan Expo variant.
