At $150, it's out of my range, but I think it's odd that the actor who portrays the Master of Kung Fu won't sign "any Master of Kung Fu comics or other comics deemed offensive." The wording implies he finds the comics offensive. He plays a comic character, but the comic is offensive. If it was offensive, why did he take the role? Did I miss something?![]() |

I’d imagine he took the role because the movie was more based on the recent Legend of Shang-Chi comics’ interpretation of the character than the original Master of Kung Fu comics which were very much a product of the exploitation media of the time.

I'd guess the Yellow Claw is the problem in the comics.

I'll say that at the time the comic was likely culturally insensitive (never read the book but it's a good guess based on how Asians [and others] were portrayed at the time)![]() |

haha definetly save your $150. Why would you want some thankless hollywood troglodyte to ruin your nice books? That movie was a complete CGI crapfest anyhow. He should sign for free and thank the good lord he got the opportunity to be in a successful film. |

If he's that offended by a 1970s comic book, I bet Margaret Cho makes him want to crawl in to a hole and die.

I like Margaret Cho. I find her entertaining. However, I draw the line at her wanting to show me her tattooed ass.

Everyone has issues. It's a passage of right these days. At the very least, he's upfront. I can't tell you how many times I've gone to conventions; approached an artist or writer, and I get "Oh I can't sign that due to ______? (insert something... anything). I don't know everyone's rules; but everyone has rules. I just ask I'm informed upfront about rules for any topic; not just autographs. Then I'll certainly be unable to hurt one's feelings. We can't have that. |

I haven't seen Kim's Convenience but it doesn't sound like people were very happy making it at the end, if not earlier. The creator and cast were Korean but the writers and producers were not, and (apparently) they made the decisions. https://www.avclub.com/simu-liu-opens-up-about-his-anger-and-unhappiness-over-1847022561 https://www.avclub.com/jean-yoon-details-painful-experience-working-on-kims-1847048756 |

In reading the link below, it appears the dissatisfaction was in the fact that it ended rather than how it was made. There are complaints that a spinoff show was created for one of the few white characters in the show but not for any Asian characters. But hey, as a stove becomes increasingly hot...it shouldn't be a big surprise when people avoid the risk of getting burned by choosing to not touch it all. |

The cool thing about this is: he has the right not to sign what he doesn’t want to sign, and I have the right not to give him the money base on my rights. The door swing both ways, one way will smack you in the bum, though.
