Boxes are currently being opened, with the content entered into the CBCS tracking system, within two or three days of carrier delivery confirmation. Expect an additional five or so business days for books delivered by convention drop off.

This does NOT mean they are at grading, only that they have been entered and will be handled according to tier.

@figment This is not true. I wish it was. I submitted (1) high value book at WonderCon on 4/1/22 and it is still not logged. If I mailed it in I would have had it back by now.

Today (April 26, 2022) is the 9 month anniversary of my submission being received at CBCS (July 26, 2021). Or in terms of weeks (since CBCS listed TAT in weeks until recently), it has been a full 39 weeks since the submission was received at CBCS. Or in working days, it's been between 184 to 195 days (can't tell for sure since I don't know which days CBCS is closed for holidays).

I think that by any reasonable measure, it has been long enough, so I would appreciate an update that gives me some specifics on when to expect my order completed.

I have only received one e-mail regarding this submission since it was made. That was the "Order Received" e-mail, and that did not come until 2 months after the order arrived at CBCS. Since then, nothing.
And before anyone asks, no pressing, no vsp, just grading.

Since I've been using CBCS since 2016 and reading the forums as long, I knew to check my invoice for updates. On February 15, 2022, I noticed that the status was changed to "Grading" and to "Labels" on the printed invoice. So it's been in that status for 10 weeks now as well.

Please reply in this thread, or send me a PM or even e-mail me.

Thanks in advance,

Update:
I e-mailed Customer Service with this same info asking for an update. Received e-mail back today stating...
"Your Order 21-0B7F65D is in the Heat Seal stage. This is one of the final stages before completion. Thank you for your patience and look forward to assisting you again in the future.
Thank you and have a great day!"
So anyone know how long Heat Seal takes?

Aaaaa....Don't hold your breath over there. It can be several weeks from there to get done and into the evidently, loooooooong line at the shipping stage.
Then we wait until they clean up in isle 6 and load the truck...lol....
I really don't know.

I mailed in a submission under the old "rapid" tier, just as the tier system was changing, and tracking indicates it was received at CBCS on April 8. It still has not appeared on my dashboard, and customer service hasn't responded to two emails asking for additional info.

@Lonestar @Nearmint67 - Could be a day, could be a month. BUT, for the comics that have been recently (April) moving to the Sub-sections of "Grading" (Labels, Heatseal, Encapsulation), it they seem to be moving in a day to maybe up to 2 weeks across the tier spectrum. Oddly/Unfortunately, if one moved to the labels subsection in Feb or Mar, they seem to be taking 1 - 2 months.

@cbrescue1 - Rapid estimated TAT at that time was 3 weeks. So your estimated completion would have been ~Monday May 2nd. They probably got hammered the week or so before you submitted due to the pending price increase, so my guess would be a range of May 2nd to May 14th. History dictates that when they get masses of submissions, updating the dashboard is a lower priority.

So my order from Aug 1 submitted at GalaxyCon has a ($12.00) balance that has been on the dashboard for a while. I got two emails today stating that my modern and expanded submissions on the same order were in production. My invoice now says billing for the expanded and shipping for the modern. The dashboard states billing. What does this mean??

very odd...I got a $12 charge to my card the other day despite all my orders being fully paid (except 1 - waiting for signature event and more than $12!!)

Maybe they are just charging everyone an extra $12...probably a storage fee for our books being their so long!!!

Here's my joke for the day:

Of course I sent an e-mail to Helen Waite... she's the head of their customer service department....so if you need customer service you can go to Helen Waite!!!!

I digress.... 'customer service' has of course been anything but and have just ghosted me about itemizing what the charge is!!!

My guess on the $12 is that a book changed tiers based on value or incorrect age?

The difference is negative so I overpaid. Since it says billing are they giving credit or are they charging it back to my account. Either way I will hopefully see a shipping email soon.

oh sh!t... a credit!!! that's almost worse!!

you won't get the money back and it won't just hang out as a credit to auto apply to your next order...you'll never believe this in 2022 (when you have a computer in your pocket more powerful than all the tech that got people to the moon or Voyager out of our solar system)..... you're going to get a hand written credit on a sheet of paper for you to A) not lose and B) send in with your next order for it to be applied

I see my orders go to billing pretty close to when they're finished if there's ever an adjustment. I use press screen and they get pressed, I use grade screen and they get slabbed or not, etc. So they're probably processing your credit.

I have a credit card on file with my account and have always gotten any credits put back on the card. Sounds like @KatKomics has had a different experience though.

The pen and paper they use is part of the employee welcome package. Along with an abacus to calculate TATs, a carrier pigeon for email responses, and an Atari 2600 to update the dashboard. Why do you think it takes so long to train new employees?

I don't know.....my dads uncle had homing pigeons when I was a kid and they made it home shockingly fast considering the distances they traveled!!....certainly faster than a customer service response!!

guess the takeaway is...don't disrespect pigeons by comparing them to CBCS customer service???

Good news! Your book(s) are now in the grading room and will be examined by the CBCS Grading Team shortly!
30 books, mix of mostly bronze & some moderns. No press (I do that), just grade on the slow train.
And believe this, my dashboard got updated too......
Woop Woop....

I got that email too!

...on March 21st.

Fin Fam Foom!!!!!
It shouldn't take a month to ship, right?
Maybe there's a traffic jamb at the shipping label printer??? lol......

The September 7th submission was 3 weeks+ behind my August 12th submission.
The August submission is in "shipping" so I am looking for the "your order has shipped" email on that one any day now. And not another month like Tom.......
So I will have to wait to see how much I was bumped by the faster tiers to get the September submission into shipping.

I did pose the question to customer service as to when the "shipping" order from August will actually ship. No "clear" response yet...
Keep you posted.

So, here is an update....
Didn't have to wait but4 days since they notified me the order was in shipping to get this one;

"Your following CBCS submissions have been shipped:

21-2D056C3-MD

Your submission has been shipped through your carrier of choice. Please use the following information to track your shipment:

FedEx"

Ok, so let's get out the trusty @scifinator calculator.
I shipped 30 books (mostly moderns and a few bronze) on 8.13.21. They were delivered on 8.16.21.
My dashboard shows 8.12.21 (??????).
Took the scenic route. They have now been shipped via FedEx. ETA 5.1.22.
So what is the TAT?

So what is the TAT?

@Nearmint67 - C'mon maaannnn. Get with the program. The 8.12.21 date on your dashboard is a reflection of the date you submitted (Typed in) your order and has nuttin do with TAT. The 8.16.21 starts the TAT clock the day or so after delivery. That would equate to a 36 week or now or a 173 business day TAT (36 weeks x 5 business days per week (180) less 7 holidays = 173 business days).

As I know you do your own pressing, so this yours was a Grade only (Assuming no VSP), basically that is about a month beyond the estimated TATs at the end of March (Pre- Tier structure change). However, that track with my completed press submissions being SUBSTANTIALLY below the current estimated TAT's. So again, it looks more evident that CBCS has been absolutely deluged in March and early April by submitters getting in before the hike.

As such, I suspect most of us with submissions from last year will continue to get back our comics ahead of current estimates. Submitters from Jan/Feb, toss-up, Submitters from March on are probably reflected accurately in the main estimated TAT page.
