They didn't specifically say the TATs would be garauanteed, they said they were adding guarantees... could mean grade, authentication, etc.
If there were referring to TATs I would imagine it wouldn't apply to modern basic subs.
The prices will go up again, I read "limited price increases" means there's one coming, but hey... it will be "limited", and it will mean more quick tier submissions.

Question:
How long (or at what stage in the process) until the grades are visible on the dashboard?
I'm in shipping on the dash, shipToCanada on the invoice. (unless that is also inaccurate) but no assigned grades yet. (I get it that updating that part of the dashboard is last in the priority list)

@Fizbit Typically grades are available once the books have left the facility and you have been issued a tracking number for your order.

I’m not sure if “Ship To Canada” means the books have left the facility and are en route or if it means they’re waiting to accumulate enough books to ship back, or if it’s a blanket status for both.

Also, Canada orders seem to have a tendency to miss the last status update that makes the grades available, requiring an email/call so they can make that quick status change

Yep, this is great for people willing to pay up, but it's only going to exacerbate the current problems with their slow tiers. When this is launched, they should just eliminate the TATs all together if they can't honor them. Just put "subject to current backlog" and show what month's books they're currently processing.

This is only helpful for new submissions because they're supposed to honor the stated TAT when your books arrived, not what's currently on the website.

I am still trying to get my arms around where the bold lettering is going to be applied within CBCS. Is the doubling going to be applied to the Magazines and new Guaranteed Express services? Or is it also to address the current TATs for the shlubs who are told on the forums that they need to eat crow with their pathetic standard selections of 30+ week grade TATs & 70+ week Press times?

CBCS – A Bright FUTURE for Collectors
CBCS will continue to adapt and adopt to the industry needs. With the more than doubling of our grading and production teams, the unveiling of our Magazine service and guaranteed express turn times launching in 2022, there will be more exciting releases in the very near future. Stay tuned for more exciting news from CBCS – your partner in your collecting life and businesses!

The pessimist in me says you're right, all these new changes are going to focus on the high dollar tiers, ensuring dealers and auction houses get the best service.

The optimist in me just told the pessimist in me to stop being so negative and walked out the door.

I'm very curious what the pricing will be for these "express" tiers. If they can price it similar to CGCs latest hikes, and offer the guarantee TAT it'll be a big win for them. If they price it like some of the absurd PSA and Beckett tiers where it's $250+ per book, then I imagine only money launderers will be using it.

@Supertom - That is a misstatement. One's estimated TAT does indeed start (get calculated) from the time it is delivered to CBCS in Dallas or on the Wednesday after it is dropped of to CBCS at a convention. The actual TAT is subject to change after delivery and has not been a fixed point except on those past/few occasions where CBCS was running a Guarantee TAT special promo. Especially and most often with the lower paid tiers.

21 books all modern no press 275 days in CBCS prison or 39+ weeks either way, way above any TAT posted. The person doing to heatseal must be welding these shut because they have been in heat seal way over a month

Hmm, it's not exactly that from what I can tell. Moreso it's that the dealers have taken over the LOW dollar tiers. They have thousands of books submitted and often on a monthly basis, so at this point the TAT doesn't faze them. They have books coming back regularly like a conveyor belt.

This TAT backlog is actually a benefit to the dealers because casual collectors who don't want to wait years or pay for the high dollar tiers have only one other choice now if they want a slabbed book... buy it from them.

Hi. First time posting here. I’m in Canada & haven’t been able to figure out how to choose their 2-day Modern grading service on the Canadian side of their website. Do I have to fill out the submission form via the US sub site?
Thanks in advance for any help offered here.

@Superbud welcome to the forum!

As best I recall, 2-Day isn't offered through Canada. I think it's because with the shipping times to/from their Canadian office you would never get anything close to 2-Day service. But you can send direct to Texas and use it. Take a look at https://forum.cbcscomics.com/topic/9896/page/1/cbcs-101-a-newbies-guide/

That my be how it is, but is that how it should be? If I take my car in for repair, and they estimate 3 days till completion, and it takes a month, I sure am not going to be satisfied.

This exactly.
It's not about how it is and providing excuses for both these companies for it being ok.
Our problem (the consumer) is we can't go anywhere else.
If that 3 days for a car repair turned into 1 month, clearly not one of us would be going back to that auto repair center again.

That's the messed up thing about monopolies - they can do whatever they want and if you want to use them you're forced to deal with their policies instead of being able to drop them and go elsewhere.
I absolutely hate it and it enrages me more often than not.

I would not tolerate the shenanigans and lack of addressing customer concerns in any other area of life.

At least in this case, it doesn't matter to me that I have no where else to go because this service is not a necessity for me. I don't need to have anything graded/slabbed. I thought it would be fun and cool to do some of my personal collection and maybe make some display pieces, but I don't NEED this.

I had a bad experience with CGC, so I came to CBCS. I so wanted to have a good experience here. I was rooting for CBCS to be the better product and service. Now I'm having a bad customer experience here. I may be bummed about not having an alternative to go to, but I can easily walk away from all of this.

Yeah the books I got back 2 weeks ago are still showing as ShiptoCanada in the dashboard and there are no grades. This seems to be common with the ShiptoCanada status.

yeah..takes a bit for Canada - I think the CBCS Canada has to have confirmation they were delivered then they inform CBCS Dallas and then things get released!
If they aren't updated in another 2 weeks then the e-mails/calls to customer service or IM a board moderator for help kicks in!

To answer your question, no, this is not where the comics go to die. MutantMania private msg quote post Address this user
I would love to send some books off to CBCS or CGC to get graded but the TAT is killing me. I know the reality is that graded books get more and sometimes insanely more money than raw books.
I also know the fast pass, fast press, and other fast stuff but that all ads up in the end.

I sent in a test run at another place and got books back in about 6 weeks. I know I won't get TOP dollar but still more than raw and enough to justify the cost spent to get them graded.

I just need the money pretty quick and can't wait 1 - 2 years unfortunately

Hopefully they will get a handle on the TAT soon.....

@MutantMania
Most collectors have several thousand books, and usually send in 20 - 30 books at a time for grading once every few months. Some more frequently than others. Point is you can't get them all graded within a year or two or even five years. Which means you are either selling them raw, or they are sitting in a box in your back rom somewhere. So, send in what you can afford to get graded, sit back and relax. You will get them back in 8-12 months (we hope lol...) Meanwhile, sell some of your other books raw for fast cash.
Either way, enjoy the hobby...ABS....Always Be Submitting!!!!

@MutantMania I don’t have any urgency to sell but my submissions have dropped significantly. In the near future I only see myself submitting commissioned art so I’m down from several dozen books a year to probably less than ten a year going forward.

Clearly they won’t be missing my business
