Apparently, the Packers are okay with Rodgers trash talking the team.

Rodgers will receive $153 million guaranteed as part of the extension, NFL Network reported, creating significant amounts of salary cap space available for the Packers (approximately $21 million). Rodgers considered retirement and potentially a trade to the Denver Broncos or another team as other options, but this commitment to the Packers suggests the team's all-time passing touchdowns leader will finish his career in Green Bay.

That amount of money to play football is ridiculous. Insane even.

if it means I don't have to hear about him every day, it's $200 million well spent!

He wanted to be paid the most. Talk about ego. How much is enough? How much is too much?

Tired of Athletes who need to one up each other for the most money. I know these guys have limited careers and huge future medical bills and quality of life issues but some one needs to put their foot down and say No. No more escalation.

After seeing what Denver just gave up to get Russell Wilson, I can’t help wondering if the Packers have a little bit of buyer’s remorse?

In the current season on my Madden NFL (PS4), Rogers sits atop the Free Agency list, wk6.

Lot's of speculation that the Colts would want him. Thank goodness Rogers is staying. Like many, I find Rogers toxic. Colts have enough problems.

Colt's made their bed with Wentz and IMHO need to give it another year. Yeah, that loss against the Jags was painful and ridiculous. But come on, the entire team played like shit. Not just the QB.

Everything about professional sports in based on supply and demand. I don't have an opinion on how much a professional athlete is payed if the demand is there to support it. I do have an opinion when participants in sports with minimal fan base argue that their value should be based on what participants in the popular sports earn. It's like an actor in direct-to-cable movies claiming that their salary should have some relationship to the actors in major box office films. If half the football fans stopped watching and stopped buying tickets, his market value would drop by about 95%.

Lose a playoff game to a team you should have beat (at the frozen tundra, no less) and give him $200 mil.
Absurd.

@EbayMafia agree. My only issue is when elements of pro sports are subsidized. Even if ultimate “net revenue” to a city or government looks supported, the focus on supporting pro or college sports is misplaced from a social net benefit analysis (and ultimately a likely financial net cost in the long run).

Let the market set prices but keep governments of all types out of it.

Also, the extreme outliers are just that, outliers. In most cases NFL pay packages are not attractive given cost to pursue the sport, probability of making it to the league, typical pay, typical career length, and typical physical and mental toll. I have a couple ex NFL buddies who were in the “upper” half of pay, longevity, etc and even then, not worth it (imho).

I'm just going to treat this thread as the NFL offseason thread.

Clowns to trade for Amari Cooper. I guess Baker can have another stud to not throw it to.

@Jesse_O Hope those purple people eaters eat his lunch this year. And the Bears. They have to hate him for that "I own you" comment. And the Lions too. I hope the entire division smokes the pack this year. That guy needs to be sacked 10 times a game. He is so arrogant. Hope he throws 34 interceptions with 17 being pick-6...... Sad... I use to like him until he made that comment. Unprofessional.
Go Vikings, Bears & Lions.....

Joe Buck wishes he was his father. Aikman is cool. Something about the ESPN broadcasts of MNF are just off. I think it's the audio techs. They never seem to get the crowd noise.

Nothing is worse than Al Michaels' endless attempts at another catch phrase or soundbite; a new "do you believe in miracles?", especially when a more fitting play happens later, so he uses it again in the same game.

Every time I see Joe Buck the only thing I think about is how distracting his blond hair is versus his dark eye brows.
