Ultimate Fallout 4 Newsstand17029

Collector Blackhawk273 private msg quote post Address this user
Today, I received my copy of Ultimate Fallout 4 newsstand variant back from CBCS, after sending it in for verification, pressing, and grading back in March 2021. I’m happy it came back a 9.4. I bought it originally off the rack at Barnes and Noble—-turns out that was a good decision.

Now, I’m looking for advice on how to sell it. Since there aren’t a lot of copies out there, I don’t have a good comparison for how much I could get. I normally sell my comics in MCS auctions, but I’m wondering if there might be another recommended venue for this.

Here are some pics:

@Batman66 Thanks, but my plan is to put it up for auction, since I don’t have a good sense of what the market value might be. I’m basically wondering if anyone has auction recommendations beside MCS, which is where I would normally go. Also, I would have to make sure they recognize this variant, which they don’t currently.

None of my business, but keep in mind that if you do a deal off ebay or mcs or some other venue, you will save a lot in sellers fees and such. I would say look at GPanalysis and generate a fair price that way.

But like i said, it's your book, good luck with whatever you decide.

Doesn't CBCS add a notation of the book being a Newsstand edition to the label?
-- CGC does....*shrugs*....

Maybe they missed it,...could you send it back for an update to the label?

Maybe this is a question for the CBCS team.

Nice and VERY COOL book!

Price it high and see what offers you get. I'd list it for 4 times what a signed non-newstand is worth for starters.

Edit: I'd actually list it for $10000 minimum. It sounds a bit crazy but that newsstand edition is very rare and doesn't come up for sale often.

A 9.2 Newsstand sold for $7,000 in May 2021.

A 9.6 Newsstand sold for &6,650, in September 2020.

Add in the signature? Plus the scarcity?

$8,000?

Maybe $9,000?

MyComicShop would be a good place to sell.

BUT, I’d offer it on a forum such as this first. Then you’re only out the 3% PayPal fee, instead of 10-13% through e-bay or MyComicShop.

I’m confused. Why does it say “Black Panther” below the barcode?

He’s probably right.

If you hang onto it a bit, it’ll only go up.

still my holy grail (well one thats isnt too pricey). have a facsmile edition just so I can say I have the issue. but need the actual comic. if you are a spiderman fan and arent going to have amazing fantasy #15....have Ultimate Fallout #4,

i said it in a previous post. I could have the chance to get 1 or 2 expensive comics...this would be one of them.

@ZosoRocks I think there’s a cutoff date where CBCS doesn’t label newsstand variants, but I’m not sure what that date is, though. I submitted it indicating that it was a variant, but that identification was removed at some point.

@JustThatGuy I know him personally.

@Bronte and @flanders Thanks for the input. That all helps.

I thought MCS only charged 8%. More than fair IMO.

I thought it was 10%. I could be wrong, of course.

8% is certainly reasonable. Still, I’d take direct through PayPal (Goods & Services) if possible.

Cross promotion? A couple month prior Spectacular Spider-Man #1000 newsstand has “Astonishing X-Men” in the upc box for example.

MCS commission depends whether buy it now or auction:
Buy it now: 10% first $300, then 8% thereafter with a min/max charge of $5/$1000
Auction: 8% with a min/max charge of $5/$1000

I would value the book as a buy it now at $8000-$10000. Auction can both be lower/higher. I would not put any value to the sig as it is quite common and the book is a 9.4. Different story for 9.8s

However, the price for this book can eventually go either way once MM become the new SM. Depends how many boxes will be found in storage units etc

I think selling to a boardie would be great.

Given lack of clear value it may be worth paying some fees for max exposure.

I loathe ebay but for a book “like this” it may get you highest value (auction), even net of fees. Just document your shipping process carefully and make sure to limit who can bid/buy.

I would definitely NOT offer a BIN option. It likely DOES make sense to set a high starting bid, to guarantee the minimum you might have received listing it elsewhere with a BIN (again, all calc’d net of fees).

Unless you are a powerseller I would not sell this type of books through ebay, but through a trusted seller unless direct sale. The risk is just not worth it.

Comic Link has a 10% seller fee FWIW. I believe, but can't confirm, that Hake's is also 10%. I've never sold through them so I don't know if there are any other fees or issues. Some places will waive or reduce the fee for a rare item/collection but I'm not sure if this would qualify.

@poka you’re correct. If no history on ebay it will have a significant impact to jump in with this book.

Good point.

I'd let Mycomicshop handle the sale via BIN and put it up at 9k or best offer. Take the first offer at/above 8k.

The price is high due to speculation, it can't ostensibly go up much higher and if a box of newsstands pops out of storage....

And what no one else noted is its a verified sig, not witnessed.

Imo, that is a negative on FMV.

Good choice although I would put a higher bin price. as said in previous post - no value to the sig

Price it at the last 9.8 newsstand and let it sit. Eventually it’ll get there and market will decide when the time is right.

It’s already passed that.

Last 9.8 newsstand went for $8,100.

This is what I was going to suggest. MCS doesn’t have newsstand designated for most late modern books, likely due to their scarcity. I had guessed they would oblige to adding the newsstand editions when appropriate. I’ve got a collection of graded Marvel Newsstand editions from 2011-13 that I may sell someday. I’ll have to talk with MCS about getting the newsstand designation first.

CBCS does not recognize newsstand editions post 1999 publication.
This fact sucks, tbh.
CGC isn’t any better; designates whichever newsstand they want and they do so inconsistently.

I’m very excited for this. I definitely expect it to get significantly higher than 10k. I’ve been wrong in the past of course but Spider-Man is as hot as he’s every been, the huge numbers being pulled by the PMG cards at auction, and the simple fact that this comic is extremely rare. I have mine at CGC and am hoping for 9.4 as well. Perhaps this comic will have two sales this year!!
