Dad has a grilled cheese almost everyday for lunch. We always put mayonnaise on the inside of one slice of bread and Smart Balance on the two outside slices. He usually takes one slice of American cheese. I mixed it up for him and mom last night since they had turkey for lunch. I used one slice of American and one slice of Swiss.

I have used mayonnaise on the outside slices of bread instead of Smart Balance before. I didn't like it.

This is making my mouth water. Now, it's time for me to eat something healthy and unappetizing.

LOL... what could possibly be healthy and unappetizing... except maybe avocados?

Avocados: salt them, add lemon or lime juice, and put them in a chicken fajita. They will taste great.

Tonight is,... fried salmon croquettes, Linguine, and steamed asparagus.

I've probably posted this a dozen times already, but I can't help it. I love this meal.

Here’s a question I’ve always had. Can one fry any under ripe/ green tomato? Or is it a specific breed that is ripe but happens to just be green? Sorry for the ignorance.

Looks like any unripe tomato will do.

Green tomatoes are unripe red tomatoes with much firmer flesh and a sharp, tart flavor. Most are intentionally picked before maturing to ensure the crispest, driest fruit possible. Because they have a lower water content, green tomatoes are perfectly suitable for sauteeing and frying.

You can fry a red tomato as well as long as it is firm and not mushy.

Any firm tomato, basically. The medium smallish one are easiest to bread and fry. The big ones can get away from you in the frying pan. Meaning they're difficult to turn and splash hot oil.

They don't look like they will get away from you @HeinzDad. Are they firm or mushy?

@WMorse, they are pretty firm but I'm trying to get enough of these for a single "artisanal" batch of sauce.

Doh, I was thinking the Pepsi had something to do with the sauce. But on second look I'm thinking it's just a visual measurement reference?

Supreme pizza and spaghetti & meatballs,... one of my favorites. Ditch the pepperoni though.

Smoked a 7.5lb pork shoulder today, had it in the smoker at 5:40am. Oddly enough, I didn’t take pics of that. After it was done, I tossed in some more wood and smoked a batch of peppers for homemade hot sauce. A mixture of jalapeños, cherries, habaneros, and Carolina Reapers

And HOT sauce it will be. Those peppers look delicious, even though some would cause me excruciating pain.

@Byrdibyrd, there will be plenty of mango/peach and sugar/honey in this batch. I would hate to go through all the effort and end up with bear-mace
