I recently ran across a Scooby-doo #11 (1972) Whitman with a Mark Jewelers ad. However, the Mark Jewelers ad appears to simply be a regular printed page, rather than a card stock centerfold insert. Does anyone have any info regarding whether this is a standard printed page in all copies? Is this a printed page in only some issues? Is it rare at all? Whatever info anyone can offer on this version of a Mark Jewelers would be appreciated. |

I believe those are just considered regular advertisements like any other ad page and not noted as a MJ variant if slabbed. I don't know if they are standard pages throughout every issue printed.

Reach out to mycomicshop.com and ask them, I see your book listed on their sit and those people are pretty helpful over there.

MJ values are usually placed on books with the center fold ad. Those were placed in areas close to military bases and even in a PX. They would be rare in print run, survivability, and I’m sure plenty had the ad ripped out and are no longer distinguishable if they were not thrown away. A single page ad may be common, in every issue, or before they wised up and targeted military personnel looking for something for the lady back home, class/division rings and other related items they could order easily. |
