Honestly, I really have a high opinion of my time with Mr. Rosa. He was extremely courteous and kind. Essentially, as I understood him, he was against certifying, grading, or otherwise casing a comic book because he feels like they were intended to be read - not bound up in a plastic case.

Honestly, I felt the same way until the last few years. I have started getting some of my books graded or have bought graded copies in order to protect them and clue my wife and kids that the books might hold some significance. They would be a "quick flip" as it were if something happened to me and they needed to sell.

I put a premium on Pedigrees personally and have some although I don’t seek to have one example from every pedigree currently.

I have some from Mr. Rosa’s collection, but I got this for my wife at a convention we were both at.

Late to the discussion but I've been digging into this topic as well the last few months. I'd like to build a database of collections and pedigrees since no one seems to agree on which is which and gather as much data as I can. It's out there, but it's spread out quite a bit. I haven't found anyone who's willing to share what they have yet but I will continue to track down the resellers as I assume they have the most complete information.

Let me know if you want to collaborate. I can share the spreadsheet I'm using and maybe we can crowdsource or you can just use it for your own collection. Aside from owning them, I'd really like to get some raw copies with certificates certified to add to the ecosystem. I'm curious what my success rate would be.

I'm familiar with that site and I've exchanged emails with Matt Nelson. He was generous with his time but wasn't able to share any of the raw data I was looking for. I know he's working on a book so I'd understand if he considered it work product. The excerpts he has posted of the book are pretty incredible and when and if it's published I think it will probably be the best source of info for the CGC recognized books but I'd like to include more than that including collections sold by resellers and/or recognized by CBCS. In my mind the only "true" pedigrees are the ones that pre-date CGC (about 10 or so) but as a collector I'm still interested in all the rest.

I feel that, beyond the ones listed on the comicpedigrees site, there is not enough there to garner major interest in those collections hence the lack of data.

The other problem is there are just too many - White Rose, Cleveland, PA Dutch, Tongie Farms, Detroit Trolley, Sid's Luncheonette, Pinnacle Hill, IRS - to name a few off the top of my head. I think they name these collections to create some hype and make some extra $$ - not necessarily for provenance purposes.

I hear what you're saying and I don't really disagree, but it's all supply and demand at the end of the day. If collectors find them interesting then they're worth what they pay for them. I just think the whole concept is kind of cool and the uniqueness of a book from a specific collection with some history attached really appeals to me. For the most part I wouldn't pay a huge premium over a equivalent copy (except for the rarer and more universally recognized pedigrees) but it's really expanded the genres and types of comics I've started collecting so for me it's been a great way to collect.

Is that site maintained anymore? The last upload was about a year ago. Seems it could be a fantastic resource for both researching the collections, but also a fantastic marketplace specifically for pedigree only books.

I dont have many pedigree books as the prices generally disourage me, but I managed to snag a few here and there. Imagine having a White mountain someone used for scratch paper!

I have one pedigree I should get slabbed and verified but I am unsure if its square enough to even slab.

Twin cities pedigree certificate.

A run of TTA pedigrees.

Big apple, Boston, Don/Maggie Thompson, mile high 2, Northland, Oakland, Rocky Mountain, Savannah, Susha News, Twin Cities, Western Penn, Winnipeg and White Mountain.

Paid no premium as they are only Silver age and we're bought for the same price as a non pedigree over 10 years plus ago.

@Sagii Interestingly, since I have gotten into chasing some of the pedigrees I have managed to pick up a Church book and a Promise book. The Cosmic Aeroplane books I have seen available have been out of my league. Admittedly though, I have lower end Church and Promise books, which is all that I really wanted. Nice books to be sure, both are graded 9.0, but they are Westerns, which don't seem to be all in demand. That much makes it nice for me to pick up reasonable examples cheaply.

Now, back to my original question.

I have a list of the 61 recognized CGC pedigrees, Plus the Mile High II collection. What are the other collections/pedigrees that CBCS recognizes that CGC doesn't? Or vice versa?

The list per CGC is:

Allentown
Aurora
Bethlehem
Big Apple
Billy Wright
Boston
Bowling Green
Carson City
Central Valley
Chicago
Chinatown
Circle 8
Cookeville
Cosmic Aeroplane
Crowley
Curator
Davis Crippen "D"
Denver
Don Rosa
Don/Maggie Thompson
Edgar Church/Mile High
Eldon
Gaines
Green River
Haight-Ashbury
Harold Curtis
Hawkeye
John G. Fantucchio
Kansas City
Larson
Lost Valley
Mass Copy
Mile High II
Mohawk Valley
Murphy Anderson File Copy
New Hampshire
Northford
Northland
Nova Scotia
Oakland
Ohio

Pacific Coast
Palo Alto

Recil Macon
River City
Rockford
Rocky Mountain
Salida
San Francisco/Tom Reilly
Savannah
Spokana
Suscha News
Twilight
Twin Cities
Vancouver
Western Penn
White Mountain
Windy City
Winnipeg

What am I missing? Is there a list here on the CBCS forum?

Anyone??
