| Ok, so I get that there are ~61 recognized pedigrees with CGC. Are there any that CBCS recognizes that CGC does not? Or any that CGC recognizes that CBCS does not? I am a relative newb to pedigree collections and would like to aim to get a book or two from each pedigree. Other than that I have been a collector for close to 50 years. My collection goes back to almost 1940. PDG |

| CGC has handed out all the pedigree names at the moment. I'm sure if a nice enough collection came along in Texas CBCS would have the right as well. It just hasn't happened yet. I've taken that pedigree challenge already. Most are attainable but unfortunately some like Chicago's and San Francisco's will cost a $10,000 entry fee. |

Quote:Originally Posted by the420bandito Yeah, those and the Allentowns are ones that I don't think I will ever be able to afford - unless I make a small fortune on cryptocurrency or something - but I don't invest in that anyway. I have acquired one or two from about a dozen of the pedigrees thus far. I just got in one of the Church books, I have a couple of Crippen "D" books, a Promise collection, and a few others. Currently, I am working on a spreadsheet of books and collections that I need to acquire. While I don't think it is likely for me to get one of those SF, Chicago, or Allentown books I would like to have a pretty good list to work from. PDG |

| Nicest Pedigree I had was Strange Tales # 107 from the White Mountain Collection. Steve Graded it when he was at CGC. Gave it a 9.4 "White Pages" of course. A few of the Boston's were beautiful as well. Sold them all to build a house. Crazy what a few funny books can turn into... |

| I like the White Mountains and wouldn't mind owning one, but the pen written date on the cover would be a niggling item in the back of my mind every time I looked at it. | ||

That's the reason he didn't submit all of his collection to the cgc. It was purchased second hand. He still has an untold number of books. |

Quote:Originally Posted by sborock Agreed, but I simply want to put together a complete list so I know what I am looking for. There have been a couple I came across with CBCS that were not recognized by CGC - the Nickel City collection for one. Is that a pedigree or is that simply a collection? I honestly don't know. There may be others I am unaware of. PDG |

| I have got to stick up for my friend Don here. I have had many conversations and dinners with this incredibly talented man. He is always super nice to me, loves comics more than most people and, yes, hates certification. He gets a bit depressed at U.S. cons since he does not get huge attention that he gets when he goes outside the country. Most of the world considers him a super star, so it's tough on him when he has a slow show. I have also never heard him say anything bad about the fans, which to me says a lot. Just my humble opinion of Don. |

Quote:Originally Posted by sborock Honestly, I really have a high opinion of my time with Mr. Rosa. He was extremely courteous and kind. Essentially, as I understood him, he was against certifying, grading, or otherwise casing a comic book because he feels like they were intended to be read - not bound up in a plastic case. Honestly, I felt the same way until the last few years. I have started getting some of my books graded or have bought graded copies in order to protect them and clue my wife and kids that the books might hold some significance. They would be a "quick flip" as it were if something happened to me and they needed to sell. PDG |
