Anniversary of Jack Kirbys Death February 6 199416843

Collector Darkseid_of_town private msg quote post Address this user

Thought I would open a thread in memory of Jack the King Kirby who died 28 years ago today sadly. I think everyone should leave the favorite comic here that he did in his memory. My choice is simple enough.

At some point, I want to crack this open and get Jack Kirby and Stan Lee's signature verified.

So many to choose from!

I was lucky enough to meet the king a bunch of times back in the day.
Such a nice person and loved the fans. Never minded signing a comic book for me!

In my opinion, Jack Kirby's history is synonymous with all of comics history. He was there at the beginning until the 1990s. The single most important creator of all time. The most prolific creator of high quality characters and story.

I love all his books and the world is richer for having him in it. His influence on the artform will forever be felt and his contribution immeasurable. The man stood head and shoulders above giants in the industry.

The King indeed.

amazing and awesome, do you still have any of the books you saw him sign yourself? I would love to see a signature he did while someone was watching and knows it was his...(due to the fact he used so many ghost signers especially) My Hulk 1 was given a likely to pass by BAS so I am curious how it would compare

@Darkseid_of_town Those books have been long gone for years. Gave up collecting SA Marvel when I finished a high grade run of everything Marvel did, sold the run, and bought GA books.

Here's a Galactus I did after one of his drawings. One the greatest character creations ever.

The King is greatly missed, I could only imagine the joy he would feel seeing his creations come to life today.

Where's his Bat-package? Byrdibyrd private msg quote post Address this user
There was a dynamic scale to Kirby's art that is missing these days. An inspiration to so many artists and yet so few have ever managed to capture the power of his work.

Mister Miracle is one of my favourites of his.

@sborock What’s your real world experience with seeing Red Raven 1? it’s a hard book to find. I think it’s undervalued being Jack Kirby’s first published comic no?
