I’ve been collecting every mid to high grade Hot wheels comic available and had my eye on a Hot Wheels 6 (Neal cover) that was just a bit too low grade… it sold since yesterday.

Anyone use venmo for goods and services purchases? Buying a book and never used venmo before, does the seller have to send an invoice for g&s like PayPal or can you send a payment and tag it as a purchase? Any help is appreciated 😊

Hey guys,

I just received a 30 book batch back yesterday, May 1st 22' from an August 21' submission.
The books all have a 21 series of numbers for the certification numbers. Example;
21-2D056C3-006
The 1st two numbers are suppose to represent the year in which the books were graded, right?
And since I just got them back yesterday (May of 2022) shouldn't the labels have a 22 as the first two numbers in the certification #????
Or do the first two numbers represent the year they were submitted???

I'd like to say I still turned out alright, but that would be a lie. flanders private msg quote post Address this user
@Nearmint67 it's based on the submission date. That's when your order # is generated. It would be nice to know the grade date. I know CGC's grader notes list this but CBCS does not.

Is there a rule of thumb on how to price a modern 9.9?

Not that I'm aware of but the first thing i would do is look at census to see if it is rare or common for that book....

@Bronte got it, it looks common, seeing as how I have 6 of them and there are 7 in the census in 9.9 and only 3 in 9.8. I'll price it high and sell them for no less than double a 9.8.

Question. How does CBCS pack and send out larger submissions? Typically I do at most 2-3 per sub, but I'm working on a larger sub, say over 20. Are they all packed into one massive box or broken into lots of 10?

@Jesse_O My request to be an authorized witness at MegaCon was denied as they believe they'll have plenty of witnesses (not an issue). The reason I was requesting this was being forced to submit multiple orders based on them not holding a submission open until I was done getting signatures at the con and the variable schedules of the creators from whom I wanted signatures. The result is that I had to pay over $40 to ship 3 comics back and an additional $50+ S&H for my order of 14. I was told at the time they would combine return shipping. That didn't happen.

do you know how they're handling this situation this year? Are they holding orders so you can get things signed/witnessed throughout the con? Or if someone isn't at a table booth is the witness essentially stuck with me until I have every, single, comic signed by every creator so I can submit all at once? Seems like a waste of witness time to require a dedicated witness or be stuck having to pay multiple return shipping charges.

Unless I can submit 10+ comics in the same order all witnessed at the same time; I'll likely not be able to use CBCS for my witnessed sigs as shipping costs will be too high. It's sticking with me that I had to pay over $14.00/book for return shipping, when if it had been combined as I was told the total shipping cost/book would have been just over $3.00.

Either a dedicated witness has to stay with me the entire con until every single thing is signed by creators on different schedules, I'll have to do my whole submission with "the other guy", or just not slab witnessed books (which means zero submissions to any grader). Just want to be prepared before showing up at Megacon this year; last year this change took me by surprise and apparently cost me some money.

I’ve had up to 30 in one box more than once.

Do you think any of these might be worth a press / grade or just try to sell as is?

If you aren't in a hurry I would press and grade. There is no sense in leaving money on tbe table in my opinion. You figure even if you only press, its typically about 15$ a book so that small investment is a huge piece of mind in my opinion....

Quick Question for the Forum....

Sent down an order using the new Express option (Vintage Express). My USPS tracking indicates the books arrived Tuesday. I marked the box in several places that the tier was Vintage Express. Really trying to get the books back in the 14 (business)day timeframe.

From what I have read here, people who have used Express as an option are getting their books sent back within the 14 day time frame.

On my member page and on the invoice, my order is still showing as submitted. Now I know in the past that CBCS has had issues updating the information on the members page and the invoice itself. Is this still a fact? Should I be at all concerned that they have not been logged in as received?

@Trespa68 I wouldn't be. If they aren't done in 14 days you get them free. CBCS marking the order on your page doesn't affect that.

My order arrived last friday on the 29th, was received on May 5 and hit grading same day.

The guaranteed 14 "business" days is from the time they are delivered by USPS, Fedex, etc. to the day that they leave the CBCS facility for shipping. It could be closer to 25 calendar days total if you count shipping days there and back plus weekends.

Yes...I knew it was business days, no weekends or holidays!

So 14 days from arrival in my case would be 5/24....thanks all.

Has anyone got any experience or know if it’s possible to press a non color breaking crease in a metal cover? I have a We Live #1 Gold Metal cover that is very rare and was graded at a 9.4 due to a small corner crease.

Do you all ever get dust allergies when you've been digging around in your comic boxes too long...or is that just me? I do have some books that have been in the same bags and boxes since the 80's so that could be the issue.

Prices for corrugated plastic comic boxes are way up since last i bought them. The cheapest I found was about 10 bux a piece but you had to buy 20 quantity. Anybody have any place else that sells them for cheap?
