All just BS!! so 'Published in US' not extra but 'Published in Canada' extra....even though all the books are Printed in Canada - both US and Canada publishers

That's right...have a look at a new book...where was it printed?? unless it is small press independent it's Canada!

So now my Captain Canuck, Cerebus and others will be more??!!! Canadian Publishers - printed in Canada and distributed in both US and Canada - and they'll be more for people who bought them in the US off of US comic racks!!!!????

Sorry - don't seem right mate!!

Good point!!

@KatKomics @HotKeyComics This seems silly to me too. Especially as I have been getting more into foreign editions. It might make me think twice about sending them in with having to spend extra money.

I can understand charging more in order to grade a foreign edition. If it isn't already in their database, then it takes extra time and effort to gather the information needed for the label.

Yeah....but just the 1st time
I don't know how many foreign editions are received and then how many are new to the database....but wouldn't every modern be new??.

Again... I have an app that auto translates.... can't be that hard to hover over a book and enter Title, issue # artist, writer, reprint of xxx etc...

I don't know... it doesn't matter. When it comes down to it this is just another revenue stream... they have no requirement to justify anything to anyone. We can take it or leave it. If foreign was enough of a market then CBCS wouldn't have also charged like CGC if it was a market they wanted to gain share in. It must be small enough that they don't care about courting the business away from their competitors

It's definitely been on my mind. Dr. Doom covers are catching my eye quite a bit in the last year. Bought this one just for the cool cover:

In a limited series like Wolverine or Punisher from the 80's...is there any logical reason why #1 should be more valuable than #2,3 or 4? Is that just irrational tradition? Most likely #1 was the highest print run of the series. But I guess it's possible that the sales of #1 resulted in a higher print run for the remaining issues?

I have no proof, but my thinking is that we are led to believe number 1 is the best to have. Hence all the reboots of all these books and the new number 1s they create. Look at Spider-man. It just rebooted again and I hear the 1st issue is just meh...

But in some conversations they refer to the legacy numbering of the books and how when it hits that magic number the books selling will explode.

For me (not Mr. Market) those kinds of sets have the most value when complete. Sum greater than parts, rather than the specific books.

For print runs I don’t know if there would necessarily be a drop off. I think that is series-dependent.

As for how Mr. Market views it, my guess is that in the current state of the market it isn’t all that sophisticated.

I think it depends a bit on the series. The Wolverine/Punisher example is their first self-titled book and they're very popular characters, so it carries a little extra cache. If you're talking about a less popular character or more random series, like Beauty and the Beast or Vision and Scarlet Witch, I think @Davethebrave is right that the specific issue doesn't matter as much and it's better to have a whole run.

that was my only concern. Then I thought about my Doug Fister, Justin Verlander, and Fernando Rodney Tiger jerseys. If something like that happens, it happens.

Ebay sold 17 copies of Jimmy Olsen 134 between April 29 and April 30th. Is that completely in response to Neal Adams passing...or is something else going on?

@EbayMafia most likely Neal Adams. Same thing happened with books like Infinity Gauntlet 1 when George Perez's news came out and he announced the signing - pretty much every available copy sold out lol.

I’ve been collecting every mid to high grade Hot wheels comic available and had my eye on a Hot Wheels 6 (Neal cover) that was just a bit too low grade… it sold since yesterday.

Anyone use venmo for goods and services purchases? Buying a book and never used venmo before, does the seller have to send an invoice for g&s like PayPal or can you send a payment and tag it as a purchase? Any help is appreciated 😊

Hey guys,

I just received a 30 book batch back yesterday, May 1st 22' from an August 21' submission.
The books all have a 21 series of numbers for the certification numbers. Example;
21-2D056C3-006
The 1st two numbers are suppose to represent the year in which the books were graded, right?
And since I just got them back yesterday (May of 2022) shouldn't the labels have a 22 as the first two numbers in the certification #????
Or do the first two numbers represent the year they were submitted???
Post 528 IP   flag post
I'd like to say I still turned out alright, but that would be a lie. flanders private msg quote post Address this user
@Nearmint67 it's based on the submission date. That's when your order # is generated. It would be nice to know the grade date. I know CGC's grader notes list this but CBCS does not.
