Grading Help NeededQuestions

Spare a grade? ASM 5016661

Collector Sebastsk8 private msg quote post Address this user
I know 1 cover pic isnt optimal but just looking for an approximate grade on this. Back cover looks pretty good, book is complete. Was offered this book for my moonknight 1 + 400 bucks which is very tempting.

What grade is your Moonknight #1?

Let's see it as well.

Not mint but I'd say upper mid grade. Maybe 7ish?

I'll take a Spidey #50 over a MK #1 any day of the week. But that's just me.

Both books shown have a bad cover wrap, and there seems to be much chipping on the Spidey cover.

Value wise, I have no idea.

Sounds like the Moon Knight #1 is a throw in comic since it's nowhere in the same caliber as ASM 50. Is ASM #50 worth $400 to you to buy?

Was trying to gauge the value based on grade. Although even at like a 4.0 asm 50s are selling for around 1k and the mk1 is probably around 100ish so it's definitely a great deal even though it's not necessarily a book I've been trying to trade for.

based on the front cover alone that ASM 50 looks like a 4.0 - 5.0 to me...maybe higher.

I'd like to say I still turned out alright, but that would be a lie. flanders private msg quote post Address this user

I would cautious. Get more pictures. Possible trimming at the bottom.
Book could have some color touch. Then you will be out $400.

I'd ask for a scan of the ASM that isn't cropped.

If you trust the other person but don't want to make the trade, feel free to pass them my info. I'll get a Moon Knight and make the trade.

Even if color touched and trimmed I would probably still make the deal, $400 plus a $150 book. I would be concerned about cut-outs or missing pages.

this. cover looks rough but we dont see the back or a good portion of spine

but amazing (no pun intended) a 4.0 still fetches $800.

I’m calling BS on this. There’s no collector out there that would make this trade, unless that thing is missing pages.

If the seller is on Ebay, you should Google the seller name and see if it pops up in any of the CGC/CBCS discussion threads.

this is important because who in their right mind would be making this trade/sale? but also, who wouldn't go for it? do some homework, get extra pics and if all is satisfactory, pull the trigger man!

If it seems to good to be true, it usually is. Do as much research on the seller as you can. It’s not impossible that it’s legit, I bought a bunch of mid-grade keys last year from a guy in Canada on Facebook and I thought I was likely being scammed but decided I’d risk the $300 he wanted. Turned out well for me, but none of the books were on the level of an ASM 50.

As for grading the book, really hard to say without seeing some better pictures. I think being conservative like the other folks on here with a 4.0 range is smart. Good luck!

Did this trade ever pan out?

If that ASM50 is intact and resto free, it's a very lopsided trade.

If you get the ASM 50, I’ll give you a Moonknight 1 & 2 for it, if you have traders remorse…

@Haljordanfan There was also $400 in the trade, to go with the Moon Knight book.

ASM 50 , if wear on BC and interior is consistent w/wear on FC, looksQuote:

Did you do this trade?

I see 1 spine tick which barely breaks color on your MK 1 (between the cover artists' signature and MW's cape).

Possibly a non color breaking fold top right corner of FC but that may be shade/lighting in the shot.

Very light edge frayoing/wear at right side of the bottom FC. No loss to cover inks.

Basically, your MK 1 looks ike it could hit a 9.8 with a press and is likely a 9.4/9.6 as is, assuming no defects on BC and the top left corner of the FC isn't bent/dinged w/color breaks.

Why do you think this is a "7.0-ish"?

My guess is , the other guy is looking at the MK 1 as a 99.8 candidate once pressed and $400.

MK 1 is at least $600 in 9.8....even 9.4/9.6's in newsstand go for crazy dough. Much more than $100.

The ASM 50, going by what I can see and assuming wear on BC and interior is consistent w/light wear on FC, is anywhere from a 4.0 to 6.0...unsure about what is either color/ink loss or a piece out of the spine, near PP's hand.

My take is that the guy is looking at your MK 1 as $600+ , and going up, along with $400 in cash...a grand.

For an ASM which looks mid grade with FMV around $800. If trimmed/resto...probably about $450 plus $400 in cash.
