I finished Umbrella Academy season 3 over the weekend. If you liked the first season or two I think you'd still like it.

watching the so far aweful Rob Zombie reboot of "The Munsters". Zombie makes great horror movies...but remaking/rebooting a beloved campy 60s sitcom was a bad idea. Im open to a munsters reboot (it has been done good before) but he wasnt right. if he did a horror version of the Munsters...yeah. but not campy. 17 min and I can tell he is trying way too hard to be campy with his art style

I think that mightve maybe made it kind of better. it feels like he is trying to take the campyness of the show with elements of the classic universal monster movies.

the set looks bad with the lighting and color. so wouldve looked better in B&W

Watched the Rob Zombie Munsters movie on Netflix.

Spoilers for anyone who hasn’t seen it

I didn’t hate it, but I don’t see myself rewatching it. Mostly, it was too long. That was its biggest flaw. At 90 minutes, I think we wouldn’t hear too many gripes.

Aside from that, it wasn’t cinematic. Yes, it’s based on a T.V. show, but as a movie, it needed a grander scope. The finale really drove that fault home. Handing Herman a check at his front door that solves all their problems is fine for T.V.. But it’s not enough for a movie. Why not have it end with the birth of Eddie?

Rob loves the Munsters and it shows. He gave us some interesting details. The performances were pretty good. I’d call it one of the most middle of the road movies I’ve ever seen.

Watched Nope (2022) and … I was kinda disappointed. It was well made, just not as satisfying as ‘Get Out’ or as intense as ‘Us’.

It’s a “Twilight Zone” episode stretched for 2 hours. And I do mean stretched.

Saw it last night.

Speaking as someone who grew up with it and tends to see things through a rosy set of nostalgia syndrome glasses when it comes to remembering how 'good' or bad something was ... I found it cringe-worthy and slightly fascinating. Couldn't turn it off no matter how many times my wife (who loves Halloween like nobody's business) said "it's okay we don't have to watch it if you don't like it."

It was like driving by a horrible auto accident slowly to find out a car full of circus clowns hit a pie truck. I couldn't stop watching despite , as grandpa Munster says during the movie "i can feel my brain cells dying ..."

Abominable ... and yet I appreciated at the very least what he was trying to do. And there were one or two genuine laughs.

Shot in Hungary for maximum return on minimum investment so kudos for making do. I'm sure it got green-lit at least partially because he showed some Netflix suit he could do it for low budget... And his wife definitely channeled the spirit of Yvonne DiCarlo's Lilly.

The ending ... ? whaaaaa ? I got the distinct impression he was either vying for a Part Two or it was a TV Pilot hopeful.

Pleasant surprise seeing Cassandra Peterson, even with all the makeup.
