Posted this in the wrong thread earlier.  Watching ’The Lost City’ on Paramount +. I’m 35 minutes in & It’s worse than I’d anticipated & my expectations were low. I love treasure hunt/Adventure movies. I expected a more satirical ’Romancing the Stone’ & that’s what it wants to be, but the writing is so forced. Brad Pitt’s bit part is the only highlight so far. There are good ideas at play, but the execution is so poor. |

| I finished the 10 episodes of Winning Time on HBO Max and it was pretty amazing. Living in LA I had heard a couple of specific anecdotes about Lakers owner Dr. Jerry Buss. This portrayal pretty much confirmed what I had heard. He could have been Larry Flynt’s brother. | ||

Read the books, watched the documentaries, bought the record and a bunch of bootlegs too. The acting performances are good. They seem to capture the music scene in London. Lots of cameos of as yet unknown artists (Chrissie Hynde, Mick Jones, Sid Vicious etc.). So far, they appear to be painting Malcolm McLaren in a better light than what I remember reading in John Lydon's book but this is from Steve Jones' perspective. Looking forward to the next episodes. If you're a fan of the the English punk scene, you'll like this series (from what I've seen so far). |
