Your 2021 Year in Review16529

COLLECTOR dielinfinite private msg quote post Address this user
The year is not quite over yet but I think it's close enough that we can start looking back on the year in our collections! Share your best acquisitions, sales, disappointments, surprises, etc as well as what you're hoping to accomplish in 2022

So in 2021 I added roughly 240 new books to my collection

I was able to complete my collection of Marvel Limited Titles with the last 5 books as well as adding to my Graphitti Designs collection

Being a fan of video games, I also started picking up some cool video game-related books

I got fortunate enough to pick up some Sandman books before things got too crazy with the Netflix speculation

Of course, I had my share of keys, both major and minor, fun promos, and variants

Finally, continuing from last year, I focused a lot on sketch cover commissions. If they're not already graded, then they're sitting at CBCS waiting their turn!

It's been a very busy year. I don't have any collecting goals in mind for 2022. I'll be focusing more on sales.

I did a lot of buying and consignment selling with MCS in 2021. Some of my favorite purchases are not the most expensive books. They are the lower midgrade Silver Age books "minor keys" that I bought raw from them:

As am I. Should be getting some back. Plan to post them here before sending to my comic shop. 2021 was better than 2020

2021 was a big year for me, for one reason:

But there are a couple more highlights. The following are books I’ve wanted for years:

And one step closer to a 9.4 or better copy of this guy:

While I'm not going to post pictures of the four OA pieces I bought this year, I will post these magic props that I added to my collection. They are made by Wolf's Magic. That's the company that Chance Wolf (Image Comics' inker from back in the day) started. They build some of the greatest props in magic.

I was able to find and buy a micro Shark Chopper too (no picture). I'm very proud of that one as it is very rare. They didn't make many of them. Still on the hunt for a Skunky Monkey. They haven't made it in years. I think that would be a grail find for me.

These are by far my biggest pickups of the year besides adding signatures to my previous acquired comics. Really lucky as well considering the 9.8’s were bought raw off of eBay!

Some stuff I picked up this year, mostly cons and lcs, some from these boards and online.

Golden age.

Silver age.

Bronze and modern.

I don't believe I added anything particularly nice. Most everything that I can remember were run fillers. I completed What If v2, Nam, and knocked out some more of my X-Men UK price variant run. I don't know if I'll ever get a UKPV of #1, but never say never.

Some highlights:

Added mostly DC this year.

Some are much “bigger” keys but really love a late addition, More Fun 101. The fact my 3yo loves everything Superman / Superboy makes it even more special. Fewer than 100 graded copies means I feel particularly lucky to get this gem.
