Hey guys, I just bought a new comic, CBCS slabbed, and I just noticed that there is a « » above the grade (see picture below). 1st time I see that sign above a grade. Can someone tells me what does it means ? Thanks ! |

It means that the book presents nicer than the grade. In this case it probably would have graded 9.8 but there is some blemish holding down the grade that is not obvious. Scan the QR code on the back of the label to find out what the grader notes say about it.

From my point of view, this is clearly something that can be resolve with a press. So I thought I’ll buy it, press it and send it back for grading. |

If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. | xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
@Jeremysitb not all bends can be pressed out (although it feels like they should). But hope these are some that can!

I have a couple books that came back from pressing with 'light bends.' It might be interesting to see if a second press would correct the problem, but in at least one instance, the book was a little battered when I sent it in, and I suspect that I get to live with some 'bends' that are there to stay.

Have I told you about the time I dropped off 3,000 comics at SDCC? | Scifinator private msg quote post Address this user
@Jeremysitb @Byrdibyrd - Unfortunately, not all press jobs are created equal. I highly recommend using CBCS press service. @SteveRicketts and his team have never returned a comic to me with "waves" or "light Bends". Yes, the Press TAT is long, but the quality is worth the wait in getting right the first time.

@Scifinator I'm not sure the wait is all that much longer than other pressers - or at least quality ones. I thought maybe I'd speed things up with a couple orders I had back in October and first routed them through an independent presser I've used before and like. His TAT used to be 2-3 weeks. Now he just bluntly says he has no idea - but I'm probably looking at February before he'll get to them. |

@CatCovers - No doubt. Didn’t mean to insinuate that CBCS press service was longer in general to the respected good pressers out there. But wanted to say without saying hey you may get a fast press but a press that is rushed can turn back to wavy in a few days or weeks. And I can see whereby CBCS is estimating an extra 32 weeks for press service some might be scared off and use a lesser service that may over promise and under-deliver. And, seeing as how CBCS has pressed literally thousands of my comics i still have yet to see one revert back to waves or non-color breaking creases. Can’t say the same for cgc press service. All that said, if your presser is great, they are probably having lots of repeat customers and a really long TAT. If your presser is famous they probably already had a longer TAT. If they are great and famous ( @SteveRicketts ) well, your comics are going to qualify for residency in the state of TX. But, worth the wait nonetheless. |

@Scifinator No, no, I didn't think you were saying that at all. Just pointing out that pretty much every comic presser worth using has work coming out of their eyeballs at this point. As you say, no matter where you go, if you want quality, you're waiting. If you want them in a week or two, you're probably stuck with some guy using his mom's iron on your books.
