New To Your Collection #1316374

Beaten by boat oars Studley_Dudley private msg quote post Address this user
Local honey hole got a new collection in. I got there one hour after opening. Just in time to see some local guy spend $20k+. It was impressive. So far it was a lot of ASM, TOS, and Avengers stuff. A few early Hulks and some other assorted goodness. Here were the rags I bought. I restrained myself fairly well today. A couple were upgrades to the books currently in my collections, and a few of these will go off for grading.

Meant to start a signed Crisis Perez run before he even got sick. Then he got sick. I got all except issues 5 and 6 and he passed. 5 and 6 weren't showing up at all while he was ill. Then after he passed they did. What were on average $50 books went to $350 and I was out.

I scoured EBay and this listing was buried. All for under $300. What choice did I have? I will likely try to list the issues I gathered and see if I can get some money back on those. I just felt 5 and 6 weren't going to show and if they did, they will be expensive now

I had zero intention to buy any big books for a while but then I saw a preview of what was coming out a few days ago and my intentions changed. I might go back for a few more.

No bullshit the guy before me bought $21k worth of stuff including a NM ASM 129, Hulk 2 pence copy, and a stack of other stuff. In reality, he kept me from spending five digits in there. Here are some of the pics I took. They're kinda crap but you get the idea of what was there.

Just got these in today. I really wanted an older comic to add to my collection and I was interested in the Marvel Family. This comic hit all the right buttons and it’s from 1945, so Awesome.

Staying with the Marvel Family theme, I picked this up at a bargain because of the Purple Label (small amount of resto). 1947 publication makes this book Neat!

@sportshort I always loved the coloring on that cover. The angular fighting stances are classic Frank Miller.

@sportshort Whiz Comics is becoming one of my favorite Golden Age titles to accumulate that's still relatively affordable. Not sure if it will remain under the radar after Black Adam and Shazam 2.

Yes! Minimalism for maximum impact. (Probably saying that wrong, but whatever - lol)

@EbayMafia, you're right. I am finding them (comparatively speaking) inexpensive. The race is on.

just received this in the mail. All American 17, the second appearance of green lantern. 23 blue 15 restored and qualified, total on cgc census. 2 blue, 1 restored and 1 coverless on cbcs population report. So a total of 42 copies known on both census. Just don't see this book come up. Pretty stoked to have this in the pc

I won another raffle over on IG ...I probably gotta stop, because I've hit a couple now and I know that's not the norm...but I hit a few in the last 4 months

For example- I also won these last week

...I already parlayed that asm 4 into a trade with a couple other books to get somethings I've been wanting...I should have more goodies in hand next week

Finally got one of these! Each copy was custom made and unique. You mailed in an order form that asked things like gender, your name, hometown, and a friend or loved one’s name and they are used throughout the book.

Back then, just like today, if not more so, comic fans tended to skew more male so versions featuring the female Captain Universe are harder to come by

Do they still do these custom books? I think it would make a great gift...
