@GAC Who is the superior grading company is open to different opinions. That is your opinion while others may feel different. I like both and use both. I like the cases better at CBCS, but the labels are better at CGC. Just my opinion and opinions are like assholes, everybody has got one.

3 authentic signature (1 expanded, 2 modern)

My invoice has said "labels" for at least 10 weeks. That update on invoice status coincided with dashboard change to grading.

I just sent in a submission, and I hadn't really looked at CGC's prices/TATs in a while, so I made a table with my CBCS and CGC options. There were only two places where CGC was arguably better: for regular/cheap moderns, CGC's listed TAT is a couple weeks better. It's also ~$10 more and a couple weeks on the scale of a year and a half (I was including pressing), but they're faster. I don't know if slightly faster but slightly more expensive is 'better', but you could argue it maybe.

The other was moderns between $250 and $400. Over $250 you have to use 2-Day Modern with CBCS, which makes things more expensive. CGC tiers don't jump up until $400, so you can pay a lot less and wait a lot longer in that range. Again, not sure if it's clearly 'better' but some people might prefer the option to pay less.

Anywhere else, CBCS is notably cheaper and at least the same TAT if not faster. My order was a few hundred dollars cheaper than if I sent it to CGC. Maybe CGC is beating their TATs but there's no particular way for me to know that.

I was actually about to post something similar, but based on actual submissions. I sent a modern book to each back in September (as well as separate orders that had either multiple books or some combination of other addons like pressing and signature verification). Dropped them off at the post office at the same time. Fast forward until now. My CGC order shipped on 03/02 and is scheduled to be delivered to me this coming Monday whereas my CBCS has no changes at all to dashboard/invoice. Call it almost 5 months (130ish weekdays, including holidays) to the day for CGC.

I've got a stack of books that I want to send in, no idea still where I'm going to go. I don't have any CBCS graded books to compare cases to for myself. I may just split them in half and send some to each and compare multiple book orders to multiple book orders and see if there's any difference in speeds.

@xkonk Good point. That is another area where CBCS is better. CGC has increased prices twice in the last 12 months. Now they have rapidly expanded capacity which may explain the faster times at least with Fast Track. Only other thing from research, is that if you sell your comic book, CGC commands a higher price than a CBCS slab. I don't sell many of my books, so not too important to me.

@Whynotv2 I have been sending all mine to CGC this year, because CGC has delivered all my orders from last year even the ones not Fast Track. Until I get back my four orders from last year, I don't think I will be sending any to CBCS. Doing my part to help CBCS catch up!

If all were equal I think we would all agree that CBCS is a better final product. We can compare prices and purported TATs between the two companies all day, but the reality is CBCS is not meeting their estimates, at least on modern and economy tiers, even if we apply today's current estimates. Anecdotally it seems like CGC is. Yes, we know CBCS has taken steps to improve this, but on the surface it's only gotten worse.

@GAC I would argue that most of the people that jumped to CBCS after the initial CGC price hike were looking for a faster TAT and cheaper cost, not necessarily a superior product. That'll just be a bonus when they finally get their books back. But on paper, they're only getting 50% of that deal.

@Whynotv2 - i have and will continue to send all of my comics to CBCS because the encasements are superior, i prefer the more neutral labels, cost is much less, and most importantly, the grades are more accurate.

about the only reason I could see using CGC is for a signing event..only thing is..more and more I am a) not liking signatures on books and b) the creators I like just aren't around anymore or I've gotten what I wanted signed 10 or 20 yrs ago from them

Got an email today from CBCS saying my first order from April last year is on its way home. I got 3 9.8s out of 12. Three more than I was expecting. What do you guys think of my 12 grades? A good mix?

I like the grades better than your ability to count your 9.8's

My order from August 6 moved to grading earlier this week. I have not gotten the same notification for my order from August 20. There's another long line after grading though. Hang tough.

@Nuffsaid111 Maybe because TAT does not matter during WW3 or maybe we have just accepted the fact we won't see our books until 2029.

sorry no idea!! they gather up a number of orders - apparently enough to fill a few totes (or the much better word -gaylords!!!) then they send the whole group back together
The status won't likely change until after you have your books in hand - so really..there is the possibility (very small) that the books are already on their way
