Maybe worth getting pressed, cleaned, and regraded?

I've had a couple books killed by light stains. Cleaning won't fix foxing, and it probably won't fix stains.

I've never had a book pressed/cleaned (then again, I've only had a few books graded too.) CBCS has my very first book being pressed and signature verified (verification is done, and is at pressing), so I'll see what they do with it.

@Cardzguy - That is an inane comment and seems like you are purposefully trying to put out false information and denigrate.

The current estimated TAT for grading in the lower tiers is 25 weeks. The Labels/Encapsulation sub-category of "Grading" status is part of that 25 week estimated TAT. Even the "Shipping" status is part of that same estimated TAT.

To be fair that TAT will probably increase in the next 25 weeks. That has been the trend.

Same, in labels since 2nd week December. at 32 weeks overall. Based on feedback in this thread I either have anywhere from 1 to 17 weeks left...

On the brightside, I had some books submitted through 3rd party that should be getting close to the vendor receiving them back. Next several weeks I should be getting quite a few new CBCS slabs.

@KatKomics @etapi65 - I would guess that the Labels/HeatSeal/Sonicweld Encasement process takes exponentially more time than for a grader to inspect each and every page of a comic...hence the logjam at that sublevel of the "Grading" stage. I would probably even venture that it takes a grader less time per comic than it is to actually package up and ship per comic. So the 25 week estimated TAT for Modern, Expanded, and Consumer is probably ~75% Labels/HeatSeal/Sonicweld Encasement/Q.C./Shipping while ~25% is Check-in/Staging/Billing/Grading(not including Labels +).

Just guesstimates on my part, it would be interesting to see if @SBorock or @Jesse_O with his sources can chime in.

Can't help but notice that the whole encasement process immediately spiked in time when they moved from the clip encasements to sonicweld encasements. The clips probably enabled them to bang out pretty fast.

Same here, was told they were in heat seal on Jan 26th. Invoice still showing labels.

Is this a matter of not having cases? Perhaps with the huge increase in people getting books slabbed during COVID their manufacturer simply can't keep up? That would explain the huge delay from "graded" to "encapsulated", because I'd honestly assume the grading stage would be the bottleneck otherwise. The sonic welding takes seconds.

Ahhhh... but one has not witnessed CBCS' proprietary sonic welding process.
It is akin to brain surgery requiring hundreds of hours to get it right

@Nuffsaid111 - Hundreds of of hours per book? Nah. Hundreds of hours for new hires to master? Hopefully not.

@dardevilart - I don't think it is about lack of materials, though that may have played into some of it earlier on in the pandemic. But I suspect it takes a much longer amount of time to encapsulate with the sonicweld than the old clips. I do not know honestly, just my suspicion.

Does anybody know how long consumer orders with pressing last? I think I coming up on week 45 with tomorrow being Friday. (Order received April 6th, 2021). Order stuck in Labels for about a month. Are Labels different from Canadian orders or about the same(timewise I mean)?

I suppose no one actually knows, due to all the confusion I'm reading from this thread.

@PhantomStranger271 modern, expanded, and consumer are all the same timeline, so you can use posts about any of those as a guide. I got a late February order back a little bit ago so I imagine early April can't be too far out. Labels should take the same amount of time regardless of where the books get shipped to.

Then...what..one final check (quality checking or something?) and then shipping right?

Current Turnaround Times Modern25 weeks

Great, that means I should've gotten my books 10 WEEKS AGO.
Status still at "submitted"

Customer service returned an email request for 'accurate' information,

Although the dashboard and invoice still say 'received' and 'submitted' apparently my books are in "pre-grading" which means they are "actively being worked on" and "TATs are aprox 25 weeks".

I commented about TATs @ 25 weeks and the fact that I am in week 33'ish with grading, labels, encapsulating, QC & shipping still to go. I asked for a rough guess on the remaining timeline and was told:

"we do not have ETAs when it comes to international steps"

Not sure what "pre-grading" is (unless it's one of those made up fantasy terms like "TATs 25 weeks"

And not sure, other than adding a few days to the shipping time, how international orders would be of any different ETA than any other book in the facility.

* No press, screen, clean, sig verify, or any other options.

* Clean and simple 6 modern books submitted when TATs were 8 weeks.

* Pretty sure, based on the feedback from others here, that I have 2-4 months to go, so 40-44 weeks

Canadian orders that go through Oakville are roughly 6-8 weeks before they get to Texas and are marked as 'Received'. Double that to include return time and add to TATs. That said, it's been 40 weeks since my 2 orders were sent in and nothing back yet. The one with modern, no pressing, no fast pass, has had a status of 'Shipping' for a couple of months.

The 8 week turnaround time you are referring to was likely from the page on the site for pricing at each tier and it wasn't accurate. The turnaround times on that page have been removed and there is a separate link for turnaround times for both grading and pressing. I submitted in July 2021 as well and I'm still waiting for my order but I believe the turnaround time was around 16 weeks when I submitted, not the 6-8 weeks that were inaccurately displayed on the tier pricing page. I believe I'm in week 31 at the moment. I can see a couple weeks added due to all the holidays and more employees taking time off, but the biggest problem is faster tiers keep pushing the slower tiers back. I know slow tier submissions from mid june have gotten mailed back so I'm expecting mine to be ready within the next 3 weeks.

Did you have any pressing done on your July order? I had pressing done with fast press added to my July order. I was told by Steve Ricketts that my books were in the grading que at the end of November. Yet today I was told by customer service that my invoice was just updated to pre grade. Just seems like my books stayed in the grading que for 11 weeks before they moved.

@Fizbit submitting through the Canadian "office" is probably a large part of the issue.

Submitting through the Canadian office was, at the time, promoted as faster than submitting directly to the US office.

Regardless, the Dallas "start date" of my TAT was July 8th.

Current TATs 25 weeks.

I'm 4 weeks over - not a big deal if the order was fully completed 4 weeks late - but I still likely have 2-4 MONTHS to go.

@Fizbit I believe you. I shipped directly to Dallas with a TAT start around the first week of July. My books are showing in labels. 4 weeks over for 3 modern tier with no press.
