@etapi65 the website is always a bit off. Not usually as much as it is now but somewhat. They should, at this point, scrap mentioning TATs and just announce which time period they are working on in the various tiers and pressing.

@78pts, @Cardzguy is absolutely wrong. Your estimated TAT would start a day or so after the Aug 28th receipt date. That said, your Est TAT can and has increased due to Fast Pass and higher priced tiers such as 1 Day, 2 Day, Rapid & Quickstream coming in large enough quantities to continue to bump our lower tiers out.

Thanks for the clarification… so I’m to be optimistic it will finish up soon…

A question to those more seasoned than myself, would a fast pass on pressing only cut the time at all?

@stanley_1883 - A "FastPress" would cut the estimated pressing time in half. A 'FastPass" would cut the estimated grading time in half.
One does not cut both in half, but opting for both should cut total time in half not including other add-ons like VSP or mail-in signing event.

I just received a shipping email "Your following CBCS submissions have been shipped" today. Modern tier with 9 VSP and no pressing, dated June 15th 2021 on the dashboard.

Hope this helps others give a timeframe for similar orders.

So in theory it is entirely possible for anyone not paying to jump to the front of the line to never receive their books back.

There really should be 2 lines.

I don't care if 90% of the staff are set to grade fastpass, at least everyone's place in line (which was 8 weeks at the time of my submission) will continue to advance (even it's really slowly) rather than going backwards.

Or maybe stop accepting fastpass until you get ALL of your paying customers looked after (first come, first served until you get a handle on the situation).

CBCS is in the grading business, and are failing to perform.

Worse though, they have failed to manage customers' expectations.

Hey everyone, we have a list of June orders. Most are not pressed. Looking for updates on when they will go out. Last I was told (over a month ago), our orders were nearly ready to ship. Yet here we are. I am seeing the last two shipments we made. one in Jan and the other this month, have already gotten paid and sent to pressing. I like that that is happening in 2022. However, waiting on a big key for us, so getting paid is a good thing 😃

@Fizbit - "So in theory it is entirely possible for anyone not paying to jump to the front of the line to never receive their books back."
Not really in that CBCS is filtering in the our lower tiers along the way. Which would be partially why the faster tiers TATs have also increased.

"Or maybe stop accepting fastpass until you get ALL of your paying customers looked after (first come, first served until you get a handle on the situation)."
This is contrary to the business standard and profitability. We have a choice to submit our comics at a low fee rate(which presumably you and I both have), that could get bumped down in priority or pay a higher rate to jump the line. It is those higher rate submissions that makes the business a going concern. The model is not, nor should it be, a straight first come, first server. It is first come, first serve based on payment level and within your tier.

"CBCS is in the grading business, and are failing to perform."
They are not failing to perform. They have been deluged by a confluence of events and circumstances that has increased the amount of business beyond that anyone which anyone could have imagined. That massive amount of business has come during a time of pandemic shutdowns, move of press operations halfway across the country, supply shortages and disruptions that started well before the media gave attention last year (which have also increased in costs that they haven't passed on to us yet), etc.

"Worse though, they have failed to manage customers' expectations."
Eh, who expected their submission inflows to substantially and exponentially break all previous records on monthly basis for most of the past year plus?. They do update the estimated TAT along the way, but again, there could be no accurate way of forecasting how much their additional business was going to increase and what the tier flow was going to be. They are in quite unprecedented territory.

I just got notification that my 2002 order with no press is shipping.

02-567OLD66

1041 weeks is close enough to the posted TAT.
I think Tom Hanks from Castaway is delivering it in a FEDEX box along with a soccer ball. Or is it Methusaleh?
Gosh.. I think I've developed a bit of memory loss folks in all this time.

Hope this helps!

managing expectations is not the same as 'no one expected this'.

very few people care about the turn around times changing or prioes going up, but they do care about getting up-to-date credible information about property that they are invested in (financially and emotionally).

I entered into an agreement with CBCS because of what they were "selling" me. I upheld everything on my end, but didn't get what I was sold in return.

I'm not saying they aren't trying (I imagine they are trying as hard as they can), but dropping the ball, no matter how hard you tried, is still failing to perform.

I called and asked about my submission from July 4th (yes, that's a holiday and a Sunday, but that's what it says) woman told me books are done being graded. I said So they are shipping soon? She said No, they still need labels and encapsulation, which can take 2 months.
WTF! How can they grade books and then let them bounce around their facility for 2 months and guarantee they won't get damaged? They should go straight into encapsulation when they are graded! Plus, this will make delivery to shipment of my modern submission with no pressing come out to 49 weeks!

Got a notice that my order from June 9, 2021 (the 3rd of my 4 orders from that time-frame)has been graded and will now be put into the CBCS cases. Probably around a third of the comics they're grading for me. TAT? A month?

Well...I cheated and looked at my dashboard and saw the grades. Lots of 9.8 which is great but 2 books I sent in graded lower than I expected. Heir to the empire #1...I thought it was a 9.4 and it came back 8.5. The one that hurt the most was Batman 232. By all indicators, I thought a 9.2-9.4 but it came back 5.5. The CBCS rep who inspected it at the show never gave any indication it would be that low. Live and learn. Pics will follow once they make it home.

Maybe worth getting pressed, cleaned, and regraded?

I've had a couple books killed by light stains. Cleaning won't fix foxing, and it probably won't fix stains.

I've never had a book pressed/cleaned (then again, I've only had a few books graded too.) CBCS has my very first book being pressed and signature verified (verification is done, and is at pressing), so I'll see what they do with it.

@Cardzguy - That is an inane comment and seems like you are purposefully trying to put out false information and denigrate.

The current estimated TAT for grading in the lower tiers is 25 weeks. The Labels/Encapsulation sub-category of "Grading" status is part of that 25 week estimated TAT. Even the "Shipping" status is part of that same estimated TAT.
