E Gerber disappointment16307

If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
I ran out of my more typical bags and boards, so I thought I'd follow the forum's advice and get some E. Gerber supplies. I looked on eBay, including at sellers that have been recommended in past threads, and everything is marked up quite a bit. So I went to the source and called Gerber, and they quoted me a 16 week wait for shipping. On top of that, they don't have any backing boards at all. No fullbacks or halfbacks of any size. They're expecting them in March.

So now I get to decide between buying my regular bags and boards, or giving money to scalpers. Good times! I think I'll get my regular stuff and try Gerber again in the spring.

I’m located in Alaska and have never been able to order directly with E Gerber. Their shipping prices were always over the top, scalpers were the only way to get them at a decent price per unit shipped.

Think I tried warning people about this months ago and several people insisted I was just wrong.

They also recently had a malware attack that shut down, like, everything for a good week or 2. So I'd assume they're backlog is horrendous at this point.

@xkonk, I ordered an absurd amount months ago. If a hundred of each can hold you are welcome to them at cost.

Yeah, I'm not disappointed with Gerber themselves per se. It's more that there are obviously supplies out there but only at scalper prices. Maybe I wouldn't have to pay 300% mark-up, or could get them from Gerber, if people weren't buying them just to resell.

@HeinzDad I'm sure there are plenty of people that just buy for themselves, and I understand that Gerber only sells in bulk since they have a minimum spend amount. But if I'm looking on Amazon or eBay or wherever else, those seem to just be resellers. Maybe they use some themselves but they're obviously buying more than they need to they can turn them around at a profit. I'm not a fan.

Not sure what the shipping is to the US but Comic Pro Line has bags and boards....no mylar though...same issue..supply chain!!!

These are the guys that supply my LCS but lately they have cut out LCS's in favor of straight to consumer sales

FYI, not that they're any easier to find, but I've heard BCW Mylars are made by the same manufacturer. Not sure if true.

I only use them on my favorite stuff. Most of my books are just reg bags/boards, so I don't go through tons of them. I bought packs of 50 Mylites 2 + Full Backs off Amazon a couple times last December and paid $34.50. Now they're getting $100, lol.
I couldn't justify the $34.50 each time so I ended up just going straight to E Gerber and bought a bunch, waited nearly 3 months for them this past spring. So this long wait has been going on for many months. Still have about 200 mylars and same for Full Backs but will probably order soon just so they are here when I need them.

Who knows, maybe I'll get these ones graded.
Imagine what I could get for them...

Nice to see people offering up their personal stock. I filled my need with BCW for the time being. Has anyone tried a group buy with E Gerber before?

I've been using polybags and shitty backing boards until the mylites train rolls in. I stocked up at a store in MD a few months ago, but I'm trying to conserve my supply. The LCS is getting frustrated because he can't get in touch with anyone at E Gerber. Sounds like a familiar tale to some of the folks here (I kid but not really). I will be placing a large order eventually but it probably won't be for half a year at least.

Will they even let you guys place orders at E Gerber? I ordered in June sometime and it was a 12 week to 14 week TAT. They did show up at that time. If they will take orders just place one and wait. It's not like we aren't used to that.

Even if they are made by the same manufacturer they are different products. EGerber’s Mylar D is clearer and is UV resistant.

Thats the way to go. The price goes down as your order gets "bulkier".

The entire supply chain is a fn mess. Comic book longboxes are out of stock and still listed for more than twice I paid last time on BCW.

BCW is out of stock of 50% of their merchandise all the time. If I really wanted what was out of stock I ordered it anyways and eventually it shows up. I've never used eBay for any supplies of any type but I am sad to admit Iv'e dialed up Jeff a time or 2. Heck my office depots never have carried 65# or 100# inkjet paper. I can't really blame that on supply problems. Half the time 24# paper is slim Pickens.

If you are looking for regular cardboard long boxes, I highly recommend Columbia Hobby. I ordered a ten pack of the green short boxes last year and I'm very happy with them.

@HeinzDad that was my issue with trying to place a bulky order. They wanted to ship UPS 2nd day which made shipping as much as the books.

I was looking at a 1k order lol.

@Paulbg2000 unless I'm missing it, I don't see Gerber products there. Am I missing it?

@HeinzDad I could've put in an order and then waited the 4 months or so to get it, but they are completely out of boards. I decided to wait.

Yeah, I guess time kind of flew by. It wasn't like waiting for books. I made due with sub par materials until then like I always had.

now we’re talking’!

If anyone is interested in the BCW plastic bins; they are still normal price. I looked them up to see if I needed to wait to get more. I like them for the permanent collection.
