Was boarding some free comic book day books and got confused with this one. Apparently they are reverting to the Asian way of reading stuff.

@Bronte manga have been printed like that for as long as they've printed manga, including any I've ever picked up on FCBD.

Finally finished this bad boy. Now it’s time to set up the lights for the display. And tons of cleaning up the prints and scratches.

@xjagnew My kids found one of those in a park the other day. It was a neighbors 140 year old pet turtle that had made a run for it. So weird to think a pet turtle could be in a family for generations. I guess it's true what they say about it being more about the miles than the years.

My brother once “found” a decent sized painted turtle in our back yard. The problem is that we weren’t close to anywhere for that to happen. Years later I realized he caught it somewhere else and let it go in the back yard. Poof! Homey had a pet turtle!

@EbayMafia No clue how to accurately age a turtle, but figured it was a male since it seems like females are larger from what I read. He was probably 16-18" head to the end of his tail (12" shell).

@xjagnew That is not a little bitty turtle. By the way, my auntie (the veterinarian) taught me how to sex turtles. Females tend to have flat or slightly convex shells on their bellies. Males will usually have a slight concavity to the shells on their bellies as that helps them to not slide right off when they *ahem* mount the females for the purpose of bringing us more little turtles.

PS: My auntie also taught me how to sex snakes and flies.

My wife and daughter found a couple praying mantis eggs in one of our bushes quite sometime ago. They hatched today. There’s a lot in there.

@HeinzDad We had one of those net thingies years ago for a butterfly hatching set. I don't remember all their names but I do remember Stumpy, the one who's wings were deformed. He probably didn't last very long but he's the only one who is still remembered years after he's gone.

Honestly, we can’t tell if one egg sack opened or both. We could have a lot more in another day or so. The intention is to let them go in the garden. Like my plants, these guys are tiny still. I may see if I can keep them alive for a bit to grow. I’d bet they’ll start eating each other though.

Yes, they will. My step-father hatched some mantises, and while it was fascinating watching them grow, it was very easy to see that there were fewer and fewer everyday. You'll definitely want to let them out sooner rather than later. They'll do an amazing job in your garden.
