@BPaxson002 Nothing wrong with preferring CLZ. It has excellent collection management, too. It's just a shame that GoCollect isn't playing ball with them anymore. I'm hoping they can find someone else more cooperative.

@sborock I've looked at it, but not joined. Seems to have a bad layout to me. Plus there is no trial period to see values. And more ads than I am willing to put up with, though I am viewing it in my incognito tab without the adblock. |

I have just under 9K books logged in. The price guide part was just a bonus for a long time but I got to where I want to keep up with that more and more now. The organization has it's pros and cons just like everything else but I like it for the most part. As far as the pricing, I was looking at Coverprice since the pricing seems more automated and seems more up to date. The issue with CPG.com is that it's manually updated. Users submit links to sales showing a price change in FMV. The administrators then review and make changes if they agree. At least that's how I understand it. I'm debating on if it's worth switching over. Transferring almost 9k books is going to be quite a chore. |

@Byrdibyrd - I have had automatic renewal with Go Collect for a few years now, and used to use it several times a day to check prices. I also have over 275 CBCS slabs inventoried, along with 65 CGC slabs. After the “upgrade” I stopped using it for a few weeks as I was totally frustrated with it. Now I find myself back to checking out books on it at least a few times a day. Some of the changes still irritate me, but I think I am getting used to the new layout. It’s now easier to look at sold prices for just CGC or just CBCS slabs. It was also easier to update my inventory (some information didn’t make it through the upgrade). You still cannot search easily for a comic (try searching for Batman #1, not the first series, and see what happens) - couldn’t they have at least added a field for GA, SA, or Modern, or a range in years!? You also cannot change a book you have listed from direct edition to Newsstand, even though there was no option for Newsstand when you listed it (at least I can’t figure it out, I have to delete the direct listing and then create a new one for Newsstand). And although they have been slow to update their FMV’s, or just been plain wrong, some of the books I checked yesterday and today seemed to have pretty accurate values. So although I still prefer the old layout, this one can be navigated. Maybe I will keep my subscription for a while longer and see how it plays out. About a month or so ago, I received an email from someone at Go Collect asking my opinion on their upgrade. I told them how much I disliked it, and also added that everyone that I know in the comic collecting community did also. So maybe if enough subscribers complained, we will see some things change back. And if enough people stop subscribing, they will either have to change or go out of business.

@esaravo I didn't use GoCollect for collection management, just as an easy and reasonably accurate way to check prices. If they're showing concern for subscribers' opinions of their changes, that's a step forward, in my opinion. I have several months before my subscription comes due, so I'll reserve judgment until then. It's good to know their intention is to keep their comic collector subscribers! I was kinda wondering if they were chucking us in favour of posters and games. |

So for what it's worth, at least regarding prices, it sounds like there's not really a consensus. Having only used gocollect recently, I don't even know what their old interface was like, but I had no problem typing in a comic name, finding it from the choices, and then "search sales". My disappointment is that they never seemed to have any sales graded by CBCS. I didn't know if those didn't exist, or if gocollect just didn't have that info. I was going to check out GPA, which many people seemed to think was good or best, but never got around to it. I think they all offer one month subscriptions, so at some point I'll just buy them all and spend some time with random books comparing the info.

I'm messing around with the free trial on covrprice. I had said earlier I used comicspriceguide.com for many years and was debating if it would be worth the transfer of almost 9k books. The price guide was secondary for me when I first started using CPG. I just mainly wanted a database. That's changed a lot for me over the past several years. I know the prices aren't perfect but they seem like they may be a little bit more realistic than CPG. The organization is way better on covrprice. Keep in mind, these are mainly to track raws but I may be sold. It's only $10 more a year.

@Puckster Because CovrPrice uses only real sales data, their FMVs tend to be more on point, except for items that haven't sold recently, so the old sale price value may be out-of-date. Fortunately they have a way to look up when all the sales they are using took place, so you can check which prices are older.

Some more bad new, good news(?) regarding GoCollect data: The three most recent sales of Hellblazer #1 are all listed as 7.5 despite actually being two @ 9.6 and one 9.4. ![]() However, the grades of those three sales are accurately represented if you specifically look at CGC Sales (as opposed to "Search Sales" ). I went back and checked the ASM annual #1 results and this was partially true. Unfortunately, the 3.0 sale from November 16 is showing as a 5.0 in both places, and the bags are in the 1.0 data. While checking this out I saw a significant outlier in the 5.0 data from August 30. It turns out that sale was actually for an 8.5. I am pretty sure that is corrupting the FMV calculations. It looks like this has been a problem for quite a while. I checked Voltron #1...similar problems...9.8 vs 9.6 sale on November 4. I checked the Punisher #1...it has a 9.4 ASM 300 included in the data. I checked Star Wars #42...it has a 9.2 sale registered on November 12 that was actually a 7.5. I checked Eternals #1...a November 14 sale of a 6.0 is showing as a sale of a 9.4. I stopped checking. It is a small sample, but I consider GoCollect data questionable. |
