I also couldn't care about dudes kissing - I'm more offended by people named "Allysyn" where one Y is a consonant and one Y is a vowel (guess I'm really more offended at their parents for the stupid name) - lots of other names offend me too, also clothes that are too tight for the wrong body type (this coming from a slightly over weight middle aged guy who could pass for a hobo in an instant -but I OWN it!! best looking hobo in town!!) , ear spacers..although judging by the spacer I could buy that nice girl at the shop in town for only a few goats (might be worth it??)
but guys kissing - this is 2021..get over it

side note..I remember watching Crash in the theater - after the girl on girl scene later in the film there was a guy with guy scene -and people got up and left...but were totally ok with the girl on girl

also C and D is probably generous for these characters

This has been said previously, but The Eternals didn't bomb because it's woke (if you would argue that it bombed at all). I think to assert that is gratuitously spinning a narrative that is far from the truth. As a young person that constitutes what is likely a core MCU demographic (a lot of my friends are huge MCU followers), my observations are akin to most people's: who cares about the Eternals?

A subset of comic book fans? Sure, but even that would be generous. Not the general public. Not a single MCU fan that I know went to go see it.

This movie was always going to have trouble at the box office, but if you feel compelled to reduce its woes to "wokeness" then look at the success of other Marvel movies that have been lambasted as "woke garbage" by a sizable demographic. This simply isn't the case.

We just watched it last night and loved it. I know Awkwafina didn't have a big part but I do wish she had more screen time. She cracks me up lol!

I'd argue that the Etetnals were no more obscure than the Guardians of the Galaxy and look what that movie did. Box office performance of the Eternals has been impacted not by "wokeness" but covid.

The second I read, "woke politically correct agenda" I stopped reading the article. Anytime I see that I see the person writing it as having their own political agenda themselves who is just trying to spread some kind of negativity.
As far as me not going to see it yet, I have been swamped every weekend since it came out. Plus like @Jesse_O said, there's too much out there right now that I want to see. I'm not even caught up with some of the old stuff that came out. Heck, I just recently finally got a chance to sit down and watch Black Widow (which I really liked BTW).
The average person isn't going to see it because, honestly, the marketing was pretty poor. If you have characters that are pretty much unknown to the general public and honestly to a huge portion of the comic reading community (I don't know jack about them), it really needs to have some interesting looking characters and lots of action in the previews if it's a superhero movie. Look at Guardians of the Galaxy. Their previews had tons of action and a talking tree and people flocked to see it.

I enjoyed the movie and I enjoyed the 70's and 80's series.
But that's just one man's opinion.

In the end I judge a movie with how it stood out, how it made me feel, character development, intense wonderful action sequences, heroes being truly challenged with difficult decisions, and avoidance of smh moments and/or plot holes.

I'm just one guy, though. As we all are on here.
In the end, it will be interesting to see how this new MCU approach will be met with, literally, the entire rest of our beautiful, angry, volatile, world we live in now.

@Jesse_O This is the same site that was linked that claiming how shang-chi was going predicted to be a bomb in a previous post -> https://cosmicbook.news/marvel-woke-disaster-eternals-delayed-shang-chi

It's obvious this site isn't where you go to get facts but where you go to hear an opinion you already believe. They do love predicting things to be bombs, i guess if you keep predicting it eventually you'll be right.

I've never read an Eternals comic. The previews didn't make me want to go see the movie. With it making less than $300 million worldwide and the drop-off it has experienced then I'm not alone in my lack of excitement for the product.

Does anyone want to guess an over/under on how many articles they had about Zendaya playing Mary Jane? If memory serves, the recent Spidey movies have been a bunch of bombs that everyone hated.
