Im curious as to what books other grade. I'm sure this depends on if you're primarily a seller or collector, but nonetheless. Personally, I try to grade my keys along with custom art/sig series, etc. Not too many modern(and for this conversation by modern I mean anything in the last 5 years) Lots of variant covers im hesitating on, but thats about it. Also, I will hesitate on certain books in search of on in better condition, but in no way am i searching for a 9.8's.

If I'm selling, it's just keys (or what people think are keys). If it's for me personally, I slab for a lot of reasons. Keys and value, for sure, but I also slab books that I love -- artwork, story, nostalgia reasons, etc. Personally, I'm a huge Jim Lee fan so I've been working on getting the entire Hush storyline signed and slabbed. |

Since my goal is to sell the majority of my large collection off while keeping a core PC of faves, I'm slabbing my PC picks and any book that will get a big enough sales boost if I slab it. That last bit may sound a little mercenary, but I'm selling my collection because I moved to a location where the humidity is causing the books to deteriorate, plus they take up a lot of space and no one else in the family is a collector.

I am putting together my first shipment now to get graded and I am doing some keys, a few I just love the cover, and the first comic I ever owned even though I am sure it has a low grade.

I grade every book I have. I slab very few , if any currently. I am waiting for a time when service issues and constant wait times are far less and things might be a bit less painful . At that point I might well slab a select 2-3 k books of my personal PC> For now the waits and service issues are far too prohibitive |

I slab a lot of dreck. I am starting to grade more books that I don't care about in order to prepare downsizing the collection. Personally, I trade whatever I want. I was working a slabbed 9.6/9.8 set of IDW Transformers mini series retailer incentive covers but IDW uses a shoddy paperstock now. However, with the recent surge of every book being a "key", I'm actually working on getting more stuff slabbed.

I love all my books but slab only the ones that financially make sense and the ones that I have an emotional attachment to. It's an ongoing effort but I'll be slabbing virtually every Jack Kirby book I own as Kirby books check off both criteria above.

Slab keys, cool covers, high grade newsstands from ‘90s+, books that influence my collection or the way I think about comics/collecting in some way. ROM #5 (‘86) is THE book that started my collection. The cover grabbed my attention and I enjoyed the story. Almost 4 years and 1000+ books later; that very copy of ROM 5 is in que for grading and the eventual grade/value bears no meaning on its importance to me. |

I basically only grade books I intend to sell, with a sell value of at least $100 or more, otherwise I just sell Raws in my HipComic Store BigRedOne1944 HipComic Store |

I slab books I want to sell that would make slabbing worth the money. I will also slab books for my PC for various reasons. High value stuff I want protected, etc... Or cool art I want to display. I also have Spider-Man and Joker/Batman walls I am expanding in my office. So I might slab issues of either of those 2 titles for display on those walls, usually first appearances or just cool/iconic covers. |
