and sometimes its nice to know when you get a book, if restoration or trimming is found,so you can go back to your LCS, dealer , or seller and make adjustments based on that information as well

Whether selling or not...3rd party grading tells you exactly what you've got.

This is absolutely true. As long as restoration is fully disclosed so people can make choices based on their own preferences, there's no problem. Also, if a book is falling apart and restoration can preserve it, I think that's a good option to choose.

Yep. I bought a number of books from the same seller, some of which have come back restored and some not. So now I hold my breath on the rest and have to be wary of other things they sell.

I know it's over kill but I like my higher dollar raw books in a 4mil mylar inside a 10mil mylar. Super sturdy and doesn't need to have a backing board so the back of the cover is also visible. They're not as sturdy as a top loader, but they're also less than half the thickness.

I had once considered 4 mm mylars, but have read more than enough testimony on the difficulty to load/unload comics to/from them that I have not used 'em. I have not even heard of 10 mm before...

I do like a sturdy bag, though. I just don't have any raw books valuable enough to make it worth my while lol.

Yeah I own 4mm 's and they can be tough to load depending on the book but I also have never heard of 10mm.

Where do you get 'em? Got any pics?

2 mil proper size and then into an outer bag 2 mil oversized seems to work.

In my opinion the key parts are the loading/unloading. I have seen youtube vids where they focus on the product and then proceed to exert g forces and torsion on books due to how they grip and load / unload.

That is likely where 9.8s become 9.4s and 5.5s become 4’s…

A 2 was grading anything for a 9.8, and value was tied to grade. I’m the 42nd type.

On which basis did you come to that conclusion? Not trying to attack, just trying to understand. I submit to CBCS and its neither one. My position on why I submit to CBCS is far from the two types you have categorized. If its simply an opinion, then sure. If its of facts, then no.

Sometimes slabbing makes me more likely to keep a book that I would have happily sold prior to having an official grade on it. Sometimes it helps me decide what to keep and what to sell.

Be a 1, don't be a 2.

I usually sandwich the comic book in between a full back and a regular board before putting it into the mylar and once in I just remove the regular board. There is enough room to pull the board out without pulling on the cover of the book. Bill Cole sells the 10mil mylar. They're called 10 Mil Comic Gards.
