You would really be pissed if someone changed how they made your grilled cheese and then moved it.

That is sorta Grilled Change Cheese Management

Covrprice can indeed upload your clz list to their site. I forgot who you need to contact to do this though.

I think it is time I cancelled my subscription to gocollect. Site has been basically useless for the last 2 months. They are so far behind on recording values their fmvs are not close to being accurate.

CovrPrice's website is just godawful though. Even if they do accept clz files, it takes 10 clicks to add a new book. With drop down menus even. Plus having the screen half taken up by useless graphics.

Though their data scraping seems good. Found my Four Color II #12 price I just paid on Ebay

The latest from GoCollect...

GOCOLLECT’S PRESIDENT REGARDING CLZ
written by Tiffany Curry October 28, 2021

In light of questions we have received about CLZ’s recent update and in the spirit of transparency, please see below for answers to the FAQs:

Q: Why isn’t GoCollect providing refunds to CLZ users?

A: When we connected with CLZ in 2019, the arrangement was informal with no contract or formal agreement. We have always provided CLZ with free access to our API, with the understanding that we’d get to a formal agreement when GoCollect was ready. The plan to begin charging CLZ has always been in service of our commitment to continue investing in technology and talent makes our application more helpful to its users. Offering free access to CLZ indefinitely would’ve compromised our ability to do that given we also offer list management services for collectors.

In the Spring of 2021, we met with CLZ leadership to discuss a formal agreement and paid partnership based on when our new site and API would be available. CLZ was aligned and was waiting for us to launch in July. However, unexpected delays occurred in our development timeline for things like family emergencies, weddings, birth of children and well deserved vacation time for our team. Delays also came from our relentless desire to build an even better product as we continued down the development path. We incorporated “this-just-in” new ideas and thinking into our dev timeline and communicated the July delay to the masses.

Q: Why were the values not updating for CLZ users starting in September?

A: We officially launched our new site on October 13th, which began with a transition in September. During the transition, something compromised the data feed. So we let CLZ know that the best path forward was for us to focus on our new site and new API because they would offer the stability we both wanted.

Q: Why are CLZ and GoCollect no longer working together?

A: I acknowledged the data feed issues that occurred for CLZ users when we migrated to our new site in direct communication with CLZ as well as on CLZ’s Facebook page (I no longer have access so can’t confirm the date). I also shared our intention to host a meeting with CLZ on October 22nd to roll out the new API. But, we continued to have concerns about working with CLZ due to differences in our professional values. On October 15th, I notified CLZ that GoCollect made the decision to part ways and discontinue discussions about an API solution for them outside of the free option that will be available.

Thank you for reading. We look forward to continuing to focus our efforts on innovation that serves the needs of our users and the collector community.

I was dubious at first, too, and I'm still not that thrilled with how busy it looks and I wonder how much of the messiness is there in the hopes of impressing people (Newsflash: It's not working). I've gotten used to it, though, and I really appreciate a few things about the site. For one thing, they're actually responsive. I've requested to add some variants and they have made the additions.

I loved this line.....

Now I'm not familiar with either of these companies on a professional level so I don't know what their corporate values are - do they have corporate social responsibility - do they match employees charitable donations, do they support local initiatives - was CLZ interested in providing timely relevant information to their customers in an economical fashion but GC wasn't into that?? - seems like a very odd and full of BS line to include

I wish I had some idea of what makes a Comic collector program/app. All I wish for is a list of my comics with updated values if they have all the stuff CLZ has then better!

I like covrprice b/c they have both raw and slabbed values and as for value accuracy they claim they update values 5 times a day.

What source do they use to update raw and slabs?, and @moodswing mentioned they can import my CLZ export file GREAT! I would hate to have to manually input all my comics.

I might give them a try and see how it works out.

As for goCollect I agree with @bythegram, goCollect is not focusing on the backend of the business. They could have licensed the API to other businesses for a fee. They are missing out on $$$$.

I'm going to leave goCollect for couple of reasons. No way to import my collection. I don't like the way they just stopped providing values to CLZ and then strung them on for weeks/months. Comic values seem to not update on the website for long periods of time. How can you do this for customers who pay for your service. Like everyone else mentioned the new UI is horrible.

I guess the question is who is poised to fill that gap? As I've expressed before and others as well, for collectors the tool that is most sought after is a way to maintain a list of our collection and an up-to-date way to import values. IMO CLZ and GoCollect had the perfect recipe but they just couldn't play nice together. So, who is going to grasp that golden egg? My dream would be Overstreet going digital and teaming up with whoever can top CLZ.

So why didn't the answer "why isn't gocollect refunding gocollect subscribers"? They basically said the site hasn't been working lol. Gocollect made a deal with clz, gocollect hasn't lived up to the deal. The real funny thing is the "new site" was supposed to happen like 4 months ago lol.

I am just glad that Go Collect took the extra time and effort before rolling out an update and didn’t rush things and end up with a worse product than before.

(Seriously, that would have been nice, but that’s exactly what they ended up with, a service that now seems to me to take more effort than it’s worth.)

Maybe we have this all wrong..we have Go Collect and Sleaze (CLZ - I believe that's the proper pronunciation?)

This kind of looks like some sort of pimping operation gone wrong? Go Collect had the goods but Sleaze was making the $ so CG tried to get a larger piece from Sleaze and now they are both worn out and discarded where no one wants what they have no matter what corner they are on?

I smoke cheese here. It is great deal of fun and easy to do. Just remember to wrap it up tight and store in the fridge for a month before you eat it.

@KatKomics @CaptainCanuck

CLZ (which is short for CollectorZ. I just say the three letters when speaking) is based in Amsterdam and looks to be a privately held company. So I can not find out how big they are or how much cash reserves it has. So you got me on who is the larger company.

However, CLZ has multiple products across the collecting spectrum. Books, video games, music, and movies. Given that their customer base is probably larger, I would bet they get more revenue than GC does every month. CLZ is also giving away 3 months of free service, and in some cases, full refunds on their software when it was GC's fuckery. Got to have some spare cash around somewhere to do that.

GC raised significant capital way back in 2000/2003. CLZ looks roughly the same vintage but I do not see capital raise info.

Hard to tell who is the big cheese between the two (forced, I know). Both seem poorly executed given their operating history - more that they recently are riding some nice waves … especially judging by GC’s lack of product sophistication despite a long time to “get it right”…

With all the complaints and given none of this is rocket science (or even brain surgery) we should just start our own.

I’ve used CLZ for many years now, and I subscribed specifically for the ability to catalog my comics, upload my own images, easily reference key details (purchase price, seller, notes, etc) and to always have the most recent inventory for my collection (including data export and ability to view within an app). The GoCollect price guide feature was simply a more recent added bonus. CLZ makes software updates quite regularly and, in one update, added the feature with no additional cost to me. So, while I did start to get used to the price guide feature, it’s by no means a deal-breaker for me. I’ve always been extremely happy with the software and support until now, and expect it to continue in the future.

That said, I’m certainly disappointed that the price guide feature is gone. It was a powerful tool. I’m also a direct GoCollect subscriber and have had mixed results with their software. Given the new (awful) design and split with CLZ, I’m going to cancel my long-running subscription. I just wish GPA captured CBCS sales (and maybe dropped their price by a bit) and I wouldn’t even think twice.
