That would require me to subscribe to Max and I am on Prime already. I can wait to buy it in 6 months

I saw it and didn't like it. The original was soooo much better.

If you’ve never read the original Dune book it almost didn’t get published. They were afraid he was trying to start a cult. I love the new movie. The books are light-years ahead.

I'm about an hour in, it's great visual Sci-Fi. We've always been able to read great sci-fi but seeing great visual sci-fi really came about in the last 20 years or so. So far every scene looks visually poignant enough to be part of a preview trailer.

Saw Dune this weekend and really enjoyed it. Never read the book and did see the Lynch version which I found confusing and not to my liking. Was hesitant at first for this but the trailer and cast members pulled me in and was quite happy with the results. Hopefully Part 2 will be approved and made.

The go-ahead for part 2 was announced today. They still have to make the thing though, so it won't be around any time soon.

Just watched it. It stuck faithfully to the story without some of the excess violence. Did not get really far or really deep into it, more for the casual fan it seemed to me.

after hearing good things about it i figured id check it out. it was extremely boring and way too long. i could get the gist of the entire movie in 30 minutes. dont know how everyone talks about the amazing visuals as its just bland sand and empty spaces, again adding even more to the boringness of the script. worst movie ive seen of the year by far. but to each their own. im not a dune fan in anyway and know nothing of the mythology so maybe im just out of the loop. but if their goal is to excite just average movie goers like myself not sure how this helped.

Just read that the release date for Dune 2 is set of October 2023. Gotta wait 2 years for the rest of the story.

Although I have not read the book I get a sense it is mostly setup for the other novels. The movie seemed like 2 hours of setup and 30 mins of 'the story.' I liked it enough to give part II a shot.

If your library doesn't carry "Dune" ... you might be Amish.

Jeff Foxworthy's starting to slip a bit ...

what the hell is a library?

You can’t honestly tell me the title doesn’t give away the landscape and atmosphere.

I watched the trailer. I saw Drax. Did the Guardians of the Galaxy crash land on one of the planets? That boy playing the lead looks about as dried out and boring as the scenery. Where's Kyle McLaughlin?

I'm gonna agree. I watched it over 3 nights just cause I have a short attention span and don't sit in front of the TV for that long. I really liked the first hour and gave the cinematography a glowing review. Really liked the vehicles and buildings. Each of the next 2 nights I found it less and less engaging.

That's a pretty good way of putting it.

We watched it over 3 nights due to schedule. Night #3 was only the last 15 mins… The movie was solid - it held attention and was generally a good representation of the book.

It felt extremely incomplete, however. Of course it is just Part 1 of 2, but the treatment could have resolved the first film more effectively.

I theorized to my wife the strategy here was to get a two-for-one with a very long delay between films requiring a rewatch of #1.

Still enjoyed the movie but I can imagine those who never read the book might be underwhelmed.

As for comparisons vs the Lynch movie. I love some of Lynch’s work. Twin Peaks is one of my favorite shows of all time. His vision of Dune was fine - in some ways better than this newer version, in more ways worse. I am not sure if I watched the DC so perhaps I will give that a shot.

Just got back from the cinema - family enjoyed the movie - was a bit long though - pulled the book of the shelf and told my son if he doesn't want to wait for part 2 he could just read!!

ps....pretty sure Rick & Morty has forever changed how I view people descending ramps from space ships....
