Hey everybody! I'll be Detroit the next few days and I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for comic shops in the area. Thanks!

Sanctum Sanctorum in Plymouth Michigan. It's roughly 30 minutes west of downtown Detroit.

You going to the Motor City Comic Con?
That's in Novi and Plymouth isn't very far South of there.
Sanctum Santorum is ok, a bit small, but also State of Comics in downtown Plymouth.

@Fads89 Arr you looking for large selection of new releases? If you are, Comic City is the best. Let's say a hot book has come out or one you want to spec on, they will have multiple copies for you to pick the nicest copies from. They have I think 3 or 4 locations now. I go to the ones in West Bloomfield and Canton.

Another really nice store with plenty of back stock and keys would be Big Ben's Oasis comics in Allen Park.

If you want to dig through long boxes of older comics for hours and like toys and games, I would recommend Time Travelers in Berkley. It is a bit messy but the store is packed with stuff to buy. And the owner has an interesting personality.

Another nice shop that has a location in downtown Detroit and downtown Ann Arbor is called Vault of Midnight.

Also in Ann Arbor is Fun 4 All comics. They have the gaming stuff, large trade selection and large new book selection. They have no older books or keys though.
A smaller shop that I have my pull list at in Ann Arbor is called Stadiim Cards and Comics. Half of the store is comics and gaming and the other half is all sports cards. It is great that it is right down the road from where I work.

Also Motor City Comic Con is this weekend in Novi. I decided to pass on going this year for a few different reasons. One of the reasons is the admissions cost. I think it is $40 or more depending on which day you go.

Time Travelers is the store I went to as a kid. I went back when I was in town a couple years ago and it hadn't changed at all, except I think they had some slabbed books.

Stadium Cards and Comics is great. Friendly staff and fair prices (though haven’t been there in a couple years).

I agree. I feel very welcome there unlike some comic book shops that make you feel like I am an inconvenience to them or just ignore me.

This was my favorite comic shop when I lived in Farmington Hills. They are in Livonia. Lots of back issues to thumb through. I’ve grabbed a few gems from the $2 bins.
I always felt welcomed there and they have non-comic book stuff that’s fun to look at too.

Wow! A lot to choose from. I'm just in Detroit to see my heart surgeon (six years since I had open heart surgery) and run a half marathon.

They are now in Wixom and are mainly an auction house now. The store front is small and I believe it is open to the public on Wednesdays and Saturdays only now. They do have long boxes in the back that were all $4 each.

Yea, couple years now. I used to go there when Andy owned it, tons of back issues and all the new books but then he sold it. As you said, the business is in Wixom now and when they sell out of the back issues they are done with them... other than auctions. No new issues at all.

Thanks for all the recommendations. I eventually hit Vault of Midnight, Time Travelers and Sanctum Sanctorum. They were all great shops and I got some nice books for my PC.
