Just about any scanner works fine for raw comics since the comic is pressed right up against the glass. Scanning slabs is what requires more specialized equipment

I sometimes get weird streaky lines w/ my up-against-the glass flatbed Raw scans.

It's a Canon TS3522

If it is on the platen and not because of the ADF, check that you are not getting light leakage from surrounding lights. (Make it as dark as possible around the scanner.)

That is know to cause black lines or streaks when using the main glass. (Otherwise, it's usually because of the Automatic Document Feeder and narrow front strip of glass which you aren't using.)

I have had two Epson scanners, though they are both in a POD somewhere, waiting on my move to finish. I do not remember the series or model, though they are both at the upper end. I like Epson products and have used them for years without complaint or issue. In fact my first one actually became obsolete (SCSI interface) before any issues... and it is still a darn good scanner, the software was what became obsolete...

Thank you for the tip. This is a flat-top scanner w/ no automatic feed, but if that narrow strip is an issue I'll try to deal with that.

I will see if adding a dark towel to the process after I close the lid to help keep out light leak helps.

Thanks!
