Grendel #1 Vol. 2 question15876

Does anyone have a definitive answer as to how to tell the difference between a first print and a second print of Grendel #1 Vol 2? As far as I know there is no reference inside the covers.

I thought the UPC code (newsstand edition) could be only first prints but, there are 1st prints without the UPC.

Here are some graded books I found on the web and I'm still stumped.

No UPC-second prints

First prints with and without UPC

I can't believe I have to now look at my copies and verify. This happened to me with The Nam #1. After 35 years in the garage, my 4 copies turned out to be second prints. Not that it mattered much for value on that one.

Another book to look for is Grendel 2 (1st series). That's Argent's origin story. Only 172 on the CGC census. Grendel 1 has just under 360.

Grendel 2 only has 4 copies that are 9.8's. Less than 115 copies are 9.0's or better.

It should be interesting to see what happens with the pricing on it. Personally, I think it explodes in value if Argent is in the series and plays a major part.

NETFLIX ADAPTING 'GRENDEL' DARK HORSE COMIC BOOK

Netflix has greenlit Grendel, an all-new series based on the masked vigilante from the popular, award-winning Matt Wagner/Dark Horse comic books.

Based on Matt Wagner's groundbreaking comic book series, Grendel follows Hunter Rose, a gifted fencer, writer and assassin as, seeking to avenge the death of a lost love, he goes to war with New York's criminal underworld, only to realize...why beat them, when you can join them?

Abubakr Ali leads the series as the titular vigilante hero Grendel/Hunter Rose .

The supporting cast includes Brittany Allen, Julian Black Antelope, Kevin Corrigan, Emma Ho, Andy Mientus, Jaime Ray Newman, Erik Palladino, and Madeline Zima.

Andrew Dabb will serve as writer and showrunner who is known for Resident Evil and Supernatural.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled about the GRENDEL saga, one of the longest-running independent comics series, finally being translated into live-action for the screen," said Wagner in a statement. "Under the sharp guidance of showrunner Andrew Dabb, our incredible creative team, sure-to-be stellar cast and Dark Horse Entertainment have teamed with Netflix to produce this provocative adaptation that will bring my characters and concepts to an all new audience and yet still provide excitement and surprises for die-hard fans. I'm especially excited to see Abubakr Ali bring the character of Grendel/Hunter Rose to life -- he has the charisma, style and vital edginess that I've been envisioning in the role for years.”

Executive producers include Dark Horse Entertainment’s Mike Richardson (The Umbrella Academy, Hellboy), Keith Goldberg (The Umbrella Academy, Resident Alien), Chris Tongue (Polar, Splinter), and Wagner.

The series will consist of eight episodes and is a Netflix production and comes out of Netflix’s first look deal with Dark Horse Entertainment. Netflix and Dark Horse have previously collaborated on the popular series The Umbrella Academy, Jonas Åkerlund’s feature film Polar, and they are currently in production on the animated series, Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles.

It is the fist appearance of Christine, who is Hunter's granddaughter, and the 2nd Grendel. Lots of speculation on that book at the moment.
