Now that slabbing and Third Party Grading has become a scarce resource, I'm really glad that I purchase about 90% of my raw books through MCS. Also glad that I keep them in the original bags with the MCS grade sticker on it. It may be a very tight grade, but it's a grade that is well respected in the industry and typically sells at a premium to both CGC and CBCS. For the foreseeable future I will only be sending books to CBCS that are valuable enough to pay for fast-track grading and/or pressing. I really like having a legitimate respected grade on many of those that I won't be sending in for now. Buying MCS graded books is a viable alternative to buying slabbed books.

...my sales thread has been nothing but books bought from MCS with the original grade sticker, although I tend to replace the bags and boards with new when I buy the book, and trim out the sticker and place it inside the new bagged book so its there for future reference. generally any book that I have sold that isnt a slab normally has those included so the buyer can in fact verify that is the condition it was sold in.

MCS/Lonestar has been my go to online comic store for the past 15+ years. I have tried other shops, but keep going back to MCS. Descriptions are spot on, excellent packaging/shipping, and you can usually get a deal, like free shipping, if you buy a big enough order.

Here is an example. I bought DD 181 9.8 raw from MCS and then went to a con to have Miller sign it. Got it graded and slabbed. Sure enough, 9.8! |

How mcs packages slabs is very impressive. A fortified box within a reinforced box. One of the best. Quick shipping also. Tough to find

Often when I browse ebay and see a listing that looks reasonably priced I scroll down and see it is them. Of course I then head straight to their site to avoid FEEbay. I hate ebay. Love McS |

I’ve been happy with their raw books and so far haven’t had any questions of the grade given. I also love the “piggyback” option so I get any raw purchases shipped with my subs.

best online comic shop by far. Huge selection and grading is favourable to the buyer. Pricing can sometimes be wonky but that's because they don't set the prices on every book sold. I've been buying from Buddy for years.

I got a number of TMNT books slabbed by CBCS, and posted them all over Facebook and Instagram trying to sell them with no takers. I'm now considering sending them to MCS for consignment. I have a TMNT #1 (4th print) slabbed at a 9.8, and the error edition of #4 at a 9.4 for example. What would be my best option if I were to send them to MCS? |

Just switched my monthly subs over to MCS. Even with shipping, the discount for pre-order/sub makes it cheaper, and I know I'll get books in excellent shape, shipped well. Everything I've done with them has been top notch, selling, consigning, and buying. If there was a "down" it would be that when selling them cheap books that they have on their buy lists, because of their stringent grading, you sometimes lose money you may have made by selling on something like eBay. Of course, the flipside is how effortless it is compared to dealing with selling on FB, IG, or eBay. |

You can order weekly new releases from mcs?

Collector | xvipah private msg quote post Address this user
Yes, you can have them sent weekly, twice a month or monthly also (I think, I just do monthly now). And you can piggyback things you buy outside of your subs on to your monthly order and save the shipping. Quote: Originally Posted by Rjman48 |

My only problem with mcs right now is whoever is marking things as Canadian Price Variants or Pence (Uk) variant. I have to have Customer Support inspect my order because I keep having problems with USA priced copies being sent to me.

I spend a lot of $$$ there every month. Their VF grades are basically NM in my experience. I really liked them when they didn't charge state tax I bought my Xmen 14 and GSX from them. There shipping is going up soon. My last order of 2 large boxes of comics, was only $5. They are going to change to actual weight soon. I am curious what the damage will be now. |
