Ebay New Trading Card Hub15793

COLLECTOR dielinfinite private msg quote post Address this user
I got this push notification on my phone a few moments ago. It looks like ebay is trying to make inroads into the Trading Card Collecting Hobby with a new Hub feature.

The hub allows you to track your collection via ebay (currently up to 1000 cards; can be added via a csv import), valuate them using recent ebay sales (updated daily), and list them on ebay. The system is currently pre-populating collections from your ebay purchases over the last year but does not currently support adding or removing cards automatically from ebay purchases/sales. The system currently supports baseball, basketball, football, hockey, golf, and soccer along with MTG, Pokemon, and Yu Gi Oh cards

It is an interesting idea and I’m wondering how long until ebay rolls out something similar for comics

That would be pretty cool. Better than constantly updating the value in Excel.

The only trading cards I collected were Garbage Pail Kids.

Lol, I got a bunch of those in a shoebox somewhere. That's about the time Scratch and sniff stickers came out.

I learned the hard way. Only buy already graded from a beckett dealer or reputable company. Bought a raw micheal Jordan ROOKIE 25+ years ago turned out to be fake. Sports cards are just to easy to fake

Still have a bunch of Empire cards from when I was a kid...and then some X-Files ones from when I was in university - all in a box.."somewhere"!

I know the hub isn’t specifically for graded cards but I do have a few I would love graded but the cost of grading is just too much of a barrier for me. They’re more expensive to grade than comics in a lot of cases.

So true! I wanted to grade my son's cards and when I found out how much it cost, I was floored! I couldn't believe the cost of grading a card could be more than a comic....but it's true.

I think if they adapted this to comics, I would love a "sell it" feature. When I look at my inventory in Covrprice.com, I'd love if I could just click a sell it button and have an item listing automatically generated from my data.

I know one of the major graders, PSA?, doubled the price of their economy tier after the current rush (from $10/card to $20) but even at the cheaper price they have a minimum order of like 10 or 20 cards so it’s really not something you can just dabble in.

Some graders I saw simply stopped accepting lower tiered submissions so you would have to be willing to pay $200+ per card to submit anything at the moment.

EDIT: CGC’s lowest tier has a 215 Business day tat (10 months) and a 50 card minimum at $15 each. That is insane!

To answer your question, no, this is not where the comics go to die. MutantMania private msg quote post Address this user
@GAC GMA grading economy is only $10, standard is $15, and express is $20 with a 20 card minimum. I used them before with standard and got them back in about 4 weeks.

@MutantMania Actually it looks like their Standard and Economy ($15 & $10) have the 20 card minimum while the $20 express just has a minimum of 5.

What’s GMA’s reputation like and how do their cards valuate compared to their competitors?

Unfortunately it looks like they just do sports cards, which is a shame

@dielinfinite they do all types of trading card grading. I sent in all comic book type trading cards last time.

@MutantMania I think I will continue to hold off on card grading in general. The more I read about GMA the more it seems like the PGX of card grading. It has it's supporters, yes, but it also has a lot of valid criticism against it, like no way to verify authenticity or the fact that it's address is a residence in Florida.
