I’m kinda of new here so first if my question is against CBCS forum rules I apologize. I just recently picked up CGC graded book and I was looking to buy the grader notes from them but I can’t figure out how. When I click on the CGC verification tool i get the message no grader notes available the book is only a 9.0 just curious did you buy knew what I was doing wrong?

You're not doing anything wrong. CGC has gotten extremely lazy the last couple years and doesn't always provide grader's notes on books, even if they are well below a 9.8. I was curious about grader's notes for a recent purchase. When did they increase the price to $10? What a bunch of a-holes. |

The CGC notes are useless in my opinion. At least the more recent ones. I submitted multiple books to be pressed by their sister company, CCS. The notes are vague enough to imply a press could fix the problems in the book. However, they just pressed it. With CBCS they say exactly what's wrong and you can actually make an educated decision. |

I have checked grader's notes on all books that I send in to CGC, especially anything that I didn't get professionally pressed. For high(er) grade books, they frequently leave the grader's notes blank, and that has been going on for years now. What's newer is how far down the grading scale the absence of notes goes. It used to be if a book graded above a 9.2, you will probably have no notes. Now I get books that are 9.0 that lacked notes. It stinks, too, because they expect people to pay for that nonsense.

I think I must be cursed with my personal books and their respective graders notes that state: "Light bends to cover". I get every darn book that I submit pressed either through the grading company or through a professional, highly regarded presser. And yet I must be the world record holder for graded comics with "light bends". It just drives me insane and I still don't understand it. |

'Light bends to cover' is something that pressing should resolve. If CGC (or whoever) pressed it, why is it still bent? That sounds like that wavy edge books can get when it's too humid. It would be nice if CGC would provide generic photos of some of these ambiguous defects that get listed all the time.

I bought a few as little as a month ago and they were $5 a piece. Of course they could have had a price increase since the buy out. One set was worthless. One set saved me from a bad purchase. |

If you enter the CGC cert number in the Verify CGC Certification box on the homepage it takes you to basic info on the book. Mainly for the purpose of verifying it's a real CGC grade and not a rip-off. You'll see basic book information and then below you'll see a link to the census (on the left) and a link to grader's notes on the right (if it has grader's notes, otherwise it'll just say "no notes" ). If you have books over 9.0 there might not be notes. You can use this cert number (1232685023) as a test if you want to see a live grader's notes clickable (but do NOT buy the notes...waste of money and time). Edit: oh, but just another reason I prefer CBCS is the grader's notes differences. Accuracy and availability...and because it made a winky emoji for using quotations in a parenthetical |

It probably boils down to, "When in doubt, write down 'light bends.'"

If there was a significant defect, it might be reduced to just 'light bends' as you say. Still, 'light bends' is just too ambiguous to be of any use. |

CGC grader notes on comics you submitted through your own account are available at no cost with any paid membership level. NOT included at the FREE membership level. If you want to purchase grader notes on a CGC comic that someone else submitted, you can, if notes were originally provided. Not all comics have notes. Notes can cost different amounts depending on tier and membership level: ![]() More info here |

From what I've seen it's hard to justify buying the notes as they're often so vague and unhelpful they have no value, certainly not $10 worth...
