The key is to get enough books into the system that you can't remember them all. That way every 4-5 weeks you can look at your submissions and be pleased to find out that you own books you had forgotten about. It's like a first Friday of the month ritual for me.

I've only submitted 12, one order. Figured that was a strong starting number. What number should I submit next, out of a possible 700?

I think multiples of 10 were the ideal way to save on shipping. But I could be wrong. But realistically if you are going to have those books graded regardless and have the money to do it, send them all in. You never know when the next price hike will be. The last price hike to 2nd day was made with zero days notice. I would expect the same if they did any of the other tiers.

@Reelgee

I believe that Jesse posted a fedex list of prices that showed the breakdown of how much they charge per book. I may be mistaken,
but I believe the most cost efficient method was 10 book increments.

I found an old list that Jesse posted but I couldn't find current list.

@Bronte thanks for the intel. So now i'm wondering how cheaper is it to send from a comiccon or by your LCS if they offer?? So far i have only sent in two orders from home, never really look at shipping price because i was gonna send them anyway, and both was less than five, and right now i cant afford to get ten graded and press at one time. I'm about to start a experiment soon and that information will help. again thank you sir!!

I would imagine submitting via comicon is cheapest, but I would print out the submission form ahead of time so as few mistakes are encountered as possible. Sending via your LCS maybe a problem because if it's their account, you can't check progress or get email updates.

Granted I have never done anything but send stuff myself. So I could be way off the mark.

@Reelgee Another venue to look into for saving cost is to go through a presser (that's provided if you are also pressing books you are submitting). The presser can send under their account for a discount. If you have multiple books, savings will add up and offset the shipping cost. Only negative is the tracking will be under their account.

Submitting at a con would be cheapest because they don't charge for shipping to Texas. Submitting through your LCS would depend on what they charge you, although there could be downsides like @Bronte mentioned. You would still have to pay for shipping back to you if you submit yourself or submit at a con, so the chart would be helpful on that front.

Tangential question related to TATs.

I am thinking of applying for a job that would start in July 2022. If I submit now (I have an order ready to go) the books likely won't be getting back to me until after I start in a new city (if I land the job).

Question: Does anyone have any experience with contacting CBCS and getting their return orders redirected to a new address?

@Silverado

Personally I would wait until you know where you are living before sending. I like CBCS as much as the next guy, but customer service isn't the best and why give yourself a headache? Wait the month or so til you know your status. The books will be safe with you, not being sent who knows where if they dont reply promptly.

I am going through that right now. Neither my pressing order or modern grading order from June appear to be moving...yet. Darryl has been very helpful when I can get 60 seconds of his extremely busy day.

I just received a message from the Western Regional Salesperson for Becket/CBCS by the name of Kurt. Part of the message reads " I am reaching out to you to let you know that I am here to help you with all of your grading needs."

I don't if he can answer my questions but he is a "new" voice added to the mix so I inquired about my overdue order.

He said to please give him a few days to check on my order, so we will see where this may lead.

I recently contacted CBCS and had my address updated due to moving. Second week of October actually. I waited until I offically "moved" and got new IDs and whatnot. No issues with contacting customer service and the address was changed in system in couple days. I should have my books back soon. They recieved my books 7/6. 14 week TAT and I had one VSP, but also had Fast Pass for entire order. This would've put me really close to shipping and was hoping I didn't inadvertently put a wrench in the shipping part. I've had no dash updates except for processing/recieved and no emails of progress either.

That shipping chart is unfortunately out of date and there does not seem to be any simple way to calculate shipping- especially because it takes into consideration the amount you choose to insure your books for and quantity sent. I have found that after a certain quantity it comes out to about a little over $2/ book and there's no magic trick for getting it down lower than that.

My June fast press/fast pass order just went from "received" to "labels".

On my submissions recently I put my FedEx account number on it so that FedEx bills me the discounted rate later on, however at the time that I process my CBCS paperwork to fill out I see that CBCS also is charging me shipping. Any idea why I would be charged shipping on my CBCS invoice if I am electing to have CBCS use my FedEx account number when it's time to ship my books out? Just curious....

@Kinsella5 You have to check the box indicating you want to use your fedex account. You will still be charged a small fee that covers packing and materials

@WMorse - that is a very cool cover. I don’t recall ever seeing it before as it is a bit out of my time…so to speak. Very Salvador Dali ish.

Yes, box was checked when I submitted the paperwork. I was starting to think that perhaps the charge showing was more of a "handling" fee to package the books up prior to shipping and then FedEx themselves would charge me for the actual shipping. Thanks for the assistance and clarification.

Hi guys. I recently sent in a five book order. No pressing, but I got fast pass. I am a Bronze Member, don't know if that speeds anything up. Live in the U.S.

CBCS Received my books on September 10th, I got them back about 30 days later!

Every time I've sent books in with them, I've got them back in about a months time. Even got a 9.9 in the last order! I love CBCS!

I sent books in on Sept 26th to their Canadian facility. There has been no update to my dashboard stating they've been received. I called them and the Indian lady assured me they have my books. Did they outsource the call center to india?
