I love how my books I sent back in March have been out of pressing and in grading for four months but my dashboard hasn't updated since being received. I also love how the PDF invoice only says submitted.

@dameki there's no "out of pressing" status. If you just send books for grading, they sit in "received" until they're actually in the grading room. The same thing happens if they get pressed first. I suppose that creating a "out of pressing" status might be helpful but I'm not sure there's a reason to encourage people to compulsively check their status even more. If they're going to add a status, though, I would personally vote for the second note here: |

I'm not saying to add a status but the turn around time for my submission once it got done with pressing and into grading was 16 weeks. Pretty sure the last time I submitted books for pressing and grading my dashboard updated to reflect that and it gives me a piece of mind of where my items are in the process. Here we are 16 weeks no new update. |

Whats an approximate time of when they start the actual process? Mine just says submitted and I'm under the assumption it will be months until they start. Modern and Consumer tiers.

I think if the folks at CBCS are reading these they should figure out that they can reduce a lot of frustration by just a little more communication. That's what bothers me how long it takes to hear back or something like just getting that receipt notice. I agree completely with bennyb86 - just finally hearing that your books have actually been received makes a huge difference. When I finally heard that I can return my 2 books to be put in the right slab it made a big difference

@stanley_1883 your TAT starts as soon as the order physically arrives in Dallas. They may not be checked in or billed but the timer starts anyway.

I received some updates to an order submitted with the Independence Day promotion, and wanted to share for those who might be in a similar place: A single invoice with 2x Quickstream, 2x Consumer, and one 2-Day Modern (with pressing) was delivered to Dallas on July 8. No Fast anything selected. I realized the entire order would move at the pace of the longest TAT, which at the time was 19 weeks for Consumer. On August 24 (about 7 weeks later), I received emails stating that all was received, the CC had been charged for the order, and the 2-Day Modern was in pressing. From that date through today, the dashboard order was Processing, and all tiers were Received. All tiers on the PDF invoice were Submitted (with no payment shown, and a balance due). Yesterday (16 weeks from delivery), received emails stating the Quickstream and Consumer books were in the grading room. The dashboard order remained Processing and all tiers were Grading. Today, the PDF invoice shows the 2-Day Modern in Labels, the other tiers are Received, and the payment was processed/no balance due. Based on the updated TATs, the possible lag in dashboard/email indicators, and comments on this thread, it seems like they’ll be returned between 19 and 22 weeks. |

I just got the email, that I'm sure many of you did, that announced they're raising prices on 2-Day Modern ($50 up from $40) and fast passes ($15 up from $10). I think this is a good move honestly. This is hopefully the first of many steps to get their volume and throughput under control and it allows them to focus on regular submissions instead of having to deal with a never ending onslaught of 2-days and fast passes. I said it way back on my first post in this thread (and I got a bit of flack for it) but keeping customers up to speed on the status of their books should be the first priority. From the last couple pages of posts I think some many agree. QC and keeping our books safe is obviously the most important factor, but it'd be like if a heart surgeon came to the hospital with no pants on. Obviously a successful bypass surgery is the MOST important thing they're going to do that day, but if they can't be bothered to get fully dressed before walking out of the house, they're sending a bad message to the patient. I still think some kind of online queue system would be beneficial and allow them to get focus back on customer service and honest and relatively accurate TAT estimates. If they're so busy that they can't even keep their site and dashboards up to date (aka put their pants on), then they've clearly bitten off more than they can chew and we're the ones suffering through this growth spurt. |

So if my comics left pressing in June, verified twice by the pressing God.and were submitted in March under March TATs, How much faith should I have that they will be home in Nov as told by customer service. Keep in mind I was told in Sept by customer service They would be here in Oct. |

Quote:Originally Posted by timberghost Sure, they will be there in November. That is, unless customer service tells you in November that they will be there in December. Geez, this entire thread is so depressing. Sure, lots of people come to CBCS's defense, but man, this is at total crap show. It seems there is pretty much zero reliable visibility into what is happening to your books from submission to shipping. I understand that they got swamped with orders when CGC was swamped yet decided to raise prices. Now, from what I can tell, CGC seems to be getting their ship righted as submission receiving time is down to about 3 weeks for regular submissions and likely will be caught up within a few weeks. They also have some crazy fast TATs for some of the newer MODERN SLOW TRACK submissions. This was a HUGE opportunity for CBCS to step up and become a peer with CGC, but I really fear they have missed the boat. Too bad, I think the competition would be great for consumers. |

CGC still needs course corrections too. If you think they have their shit together, I will say from my personal experience you are wrong. While I can understand a lot of things being frustrating with CBCS, some of the entitlement and whining I have read amazes me. I spent a lifetime studying psychology and I gotta wonder how some folks made it out on their own as adults. And to put my money where my mouth is. I put in another order in to CBCS today. It will arrive when it's ready and most likely not before then.... |

@Bronte completely agreed. For me CBCS is a long-term relationship that is in a rough patch right now. There's been a lot of good and now there's a patch of bad. I have my frustrations, I've said my piece and now we weather the storm together and hope to get back to the good. I'm not going to come on the forum every day and badmouth CBCS anymore than I would publicly badmouth my wife during a difficult and frustrating time. Those who don't understand the CBCS "apologists" should recognize that they are bashing our long-term partner. I understand those who voice frustration on occasion. But as for those who bash and criticize daily, I agree with you, there is an entitlement and whining aspect that I believe will prevent them from ever being good partners for CBCS. I would recommend that CBCS initiate the divorce proceedings.

@EbayMafia it may be a long term relationship for you but it’s a first date for many others and their first date showed up 3 hours late. I haven’t seen any entitlement on here or people thinking they’re owed special treatment. The folks on here, myself included, just want to understand where their books are and approximately when they’ll get them back. That seems pretty fair to me considering we payed for a service with the expectations that were set on their website. I find blind faith and unwavering loyalty to a corporation, brand or product far more appalling than people expressing reasonable frustrations. |

Quote:Originally Posted by EbayMafia I respect your opinions, but personally I try to not become emotionally invested in non-living things, and especially so when picking stocks or really anything related to corporate entities. CBCS and CGC are service providers, they put a number on a book and encase it it plastic. Sure, there are arguments as to which one does it better, which case is better, which one has better resale value, etc., but fundamentally they simply grade and slab. At this point in time, with the graded comic book market exploding, my main focus is getting graded books back in a timely manner so that I can sell them. Yes, cost is important too as many books that I want to grade and sell don't warrant the upper tiers, so the grading times for the MODERN tier is primarily what I'm interested in (and I think this is the case for many). I truly hope that BOTH companies will be able to speed up their TATs, but really whichever one gets their machine running again first will get my business. |
