YOU ARE INVITED To a web call with the Southeast High Grade Comic Collectors the community of investment-minded collectors (and their books) that get together to learn, share, trade and profit from what they love FREE Conservation Conversation Q&A with George Kues, President, E. Gerber THURSDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2016 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM EST Dial-in info provided to registrants[/b] COMIC CONSERVATION KNOWLEDGE IS ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR REQUESTS FROM SEHGCC MEMBERS Every serious collector knows the value of mylar for long term comic storage. But Mylites vs. Archives; halfbacks vs. fullbacks; acid-free vs. buffered - how can the serious collector learn more about the science of conserving and properly storing comic books? Ernst Gerber introduced Mylar to the comic market in 1979 with patented sealed bags. Now part of the Geppi comic Empire (Diamond, Overstreet, Hake’s, Geppi’s Museum), E. Gerber has expanded to a range of best-in-class preservation products. President George Kues will make time for a group call to share his views on high quality storage of raw and slabbed books, and answer questions from participants. Please RSVP on Meetup.com, and hope to join you online for this educational and entertaining conference call. Call-in number to be shared with registrants only. You may not be aware that the founder of E. Gerber also published the seminal Photo-Journal Guides to Comic Books in 1990. These volumes exposed the best images of many comics never seen before (by most). Gerber also introduced a scarcity rating, still in use today. Open to everyone, everywhere - join us for a call with E. Gerber president George Kues next week, Dec. 8 at 4 EST, to discuss YOUR conservation questions. REGISTER FOR THE WEBCAST Signup on Meetup |

Feedback was posted on CGC Boards. Apologies for cross-posting, details on the meeting follows: On the Southeast High Grade Comic Collectors Meetup, we spoke to E. Gerber president George Kues. A topic of discussion was that the popular 775 (7 3/4" ) Mylite 2 bag did not fit in a standard longbox. Many people have been advised to use magazine boxes instead, but bags are not a tight fit, thus imperfect for some. Gerber has special acid free boxes, but they are expensive. Bill Cole makes a pricier 7 3/8" mylar, maybe some folks use that with standard boxes. Open question: if E. Gerber made 7 1/2" Mylite 2's (the hypothetical 750 M2) would you - want them? - order 500+ at a time? - let it be treated as a custom order (wait 3-6 weeks)? This assumes you could, in the future order from online sources other than Gerber directly (Gerber sells directly mostly by phone or to the trade). Feedback welcome. |
