A recent submission of Hellblazer 1 got a grade 5...I was perplexed as the book was never moved or even read. Notes said back cover had wear resulting in cover breaks. I contend the 'wear' is part of the cover itself. Does anyone have a picture of a back cover of said comic? I'd appreciate a look. thanks

I'd like to say I still turned out alright, but that would be a lie. flanders private msg quote post Address this user
Please post pictures when you get the book back. There must be a large color breaking crease on the back to drop it to a 5.0.

Here's a back cover scan of a copy at mycomicshop.com

@tonyz58 well that's definitely unique. The back cover is so bad you thought it was printed that way. It makes a great story to tell.

That's a pretty rough looking back cover.

Looks like it was used as a skipping stone on hardwood flooring that hasn't been swept in a few weeks.

If I could, I would. I swear. DrWatson private msg quote post Address this user
It looks like it drew moisture or got hot while laying on something, maybe even a backing board, and left an ink transfer on the other object when it was removed.

@DrWatson yeah, more than likely. It was probably the backboard material used to make the one side glossy smooth.

@tonyz58 don't feel bad....black covers are extremely unforgiving.

Black covers have always been difficult to find in high grade, I saw a Superman 199 in high grade once, it was the only one I have ever seen, that did not have color breaks on the spine.

If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
The more that I've seen the phrase "tough (insert color here) cover", the more I've realized that covers are hard to find in high condition.

@Wayneds thanks!

I was actually curious about Tony’s front cover on that 5.0 grade. Just given the nature of what happened to the back.

My bane in black. It seems that they get a nice rub at the staples as soon as they touch a backing board 🥴

This has me wanting to take a look at a few of the books I'm wanting to send in. I have some that I know are primarily black that I'm kind of worried about now.
