i've goton those types of marks on my slabs (not the finger prints - the other stuff) and on 100% clean slabs I've sent to MCS.....it's just the slab and plastic bag rubbing - those marks wiped off super easy on mine - although MCS didn't bother to clean mine up....irks me when I see my listing looking bad

I think we all need to start showing up at McEwen Rd. In droves. Large groups of hard working comic collectors who want their books or updates on their progress. I got Steve Borock’s phone number if anyone wants it.
Kidding aside they really need to hire more people if for nothing else customers service and client updates.
It is kind of sad as they were gaining an advantage over CGC because of CGC’s rising prices and policy changes but they blew that. Their service was more efficient before that. I hope they can pull it back together.

Anyone have suggestions on where to look to hire a customer service person who won't be mocked and called incompetent? Any thoughts on how much more we should be willing to pay to cover the salaries needed for these updates?

that's why companies outsource...and we get substandard service.

People don't realize that staffing isn't strictly variable - i.e. we have more work just hire more people - it's step variable and that in itself is hard to figure out you are in...is it a permanent step up in production volume? is it one time due to...oh say...a global pandemic? if it's one time it's hard to hire staff and train them up properly when you suspect the volumes will drop

By the time you determine it's a permanent step up - it's too late...order are behind, there will be another lag as you hire and train..and in something like CBCS that can be a while - it's not like we'll just add another shift or hire temps like you would on a manufacturing line.

sooo...for some services we get outsourcing - which can be stepped up or down with relative ease - but these tend to be on the low skill side i.e. answer a phone or e-mail to deal with upset nerds

it's horrible and there is no easy fix - understanding what drives the situation we find ourselves in doesn't make it any easier not knowing where your books are for 4 months

I do, too. However, when I call it isn't to complain or chew on his ass. It's to ask him how he's doing and to see if every one is okay. He always takes my call and I always take his. I know he's busy, so it feels good to know that he'll call just to see how I'm doing.

Yes, I would also like to know where these throngs of people are who are just waiting for CBCS to hire them. I need to know because once CBCS has hired who they need from this skilled labor pool, we need the remainder here in Tennesse because we have "Help Wanted" signs plastered all over creation.

Plus, I should be kicking myself. Hire more people. What an ingenious idea. I don't know why someone didn't mention that earlier. The entire backlog of orders could have been avoided with the implementation of that three word sentence.

@KatKomics I think you nailed it with the "Step Variable" situation. Folks who say "hire more people" probably have never been in the position of having to do an exit interview with an employee who is being terminated simply due to a downturn in business. Either they don't know what that's like or they don't care. But when you hire someone, you have to assume that working for you deprives them away from another opportunity that would have come along. You have somewhat of a responsibility to them and their families. This is in addition to the fact that most people with a strong work ethic and good personality already have jobs.

Actually being 62 years old and having worked and managed a comic book store or two, worked at Diamond Distribution, Worked at Eclipse Comic Publishing twice once as Office assistant and then as warehouse mail order manager, worked as agent for UG comic book creators, Event coordinator besides working as counselor at group homes for at risk Teens and a Campus supervisor at Public Schools, I think I might no a thing or two about business. Including there is no excuse for continued failure in customer support and not inform clients about the service they paid for.
Yes, I know there is some lack of "Good help" out there, but there are also plenty of hard working capable people willing to be trained in every state in this country (and from beyond the Borders) who can be trained to do just about anything. Notifying and email clients and helping with customer service is not Brain Surgery. You just have to do the work to interview and seek out those individuals. The Comic Book stores here have no problems finding people to work. Yes, a few don't work out but most do and it is the responsibility of the Company/employer/personal Dept. to maintain that for the sake of the company, staff and mostly the customers who always come first in a professional organization. Period. I also understand that many people currently are effected by the world they are living in and it is effecting the work force. That is only a percentage. Very small.
But I digress. My earlier comments were tongue in cheek even though these are very valid complaints by the people waiting for their books, but apparently not taken that way.
That being said, there are no excuses for this kind of customer service and anyone excusing has very little experience in a proper and work ethic or sincere concern for their customer base. Its like comparing Chuck Rozanski to Walt Flanagan at this point.

Just wondering...did the May submissions include pressing? Perhaps the pressing queue is more on top of things with respect to the dashboard and email notification.

Another optimistic interpretation is that CBCS has taken some steps to get their house in order since May. Maybe the the dashboard/email notifications were considered the easiest workflow to sacrifice when faced with higher volumes/labour constraints. As a first time submitter I was super nervous until I received that notification. I hope your comics are all in queue and you get some sort of notice soon.

@comixfan59 again, how much more are you willing to pay for this service that I find completely unnecessary? I don't call out for because I don't need it and I don't care to pay for it. So what do you think, maybe raise prices by $4-$5 per slab to pay for the extra overhead? Could we just offer as an option instead of making everyone pay for it?

Like most businesses when demand outgrows production part of profits are used to increase production to keep with the demand. Sometimes this can be a combination of increasing the commercial or production space and increasing the staff and sometimes just one or the other. It also means stronger purchasing power for supplies needed. In Dime cases part of the expenditure is passed partially to the consumer. Sometimes not for a while and realistic price adjustments occur as prices for these expenses increase. As the demand continues investments see usually high returns with a continued market of satisfied customers.

Did you submit in July or did it hit processing in July?
I know CGC changes the date to match the updated status.

Sometimes that's all we need. Just a quick email that assures us our books are in good hands. It's not that we don't know it, or not trust anybody, but a little customer re-assurance goes a long long way.

In the midst of my 16th week still showing submitted. Phoned customer service, they told me to email Steve Paulus. He hasn't responded to any of my emails at all. Emailed Darryl Hayden, he said only Steve Paulus can help me. Asked Steve Ricketts on the forums, he said he can't see my order because it isn't in the system yet. I can't believe no one in this entire company can even tell me that they received my comics in 16 weeks.... Beginning to think they're lost and I'll never see them again.

It looks like the early May timeframe is where all the Canadians seem to be having issues with still showing "Submitted". This makes me worried that something bad happened to the batch of comics they received around that time....including mine...
