Now you know it was internally-created exactly as Dave said. "But well, you know..." now. Anyway, done arguing with a random on the internet. You're much more practiced at it. Enjoy. |

It CAN be neutral and descriptive, but often is not." You are welcome. Moving forward, you do realize that our national language, English is sort of a common language with Britain right? But well, you know... and you have fun ! |

I was going to try to lighten things up by asking how everyone feel about the weather today? About as neutral as one can get with a discussion topic, right?. But then I thought to myself ... it could deteriorate to global warming ... and then I had visions of World War IV in the near future on here. So I will not ask how does everyone feel about the weather. Can we all maybe agree that 1 + 1 = 2? (Please don't throw stones at me if you disagree) |

It seems, regardless of skills, the kids are being placed in more advanced classes, instead of taking another year of the less advanced mathematics. They're also being given grades by their teachers rather than earning them, and also being held to far lower standards for partial credit on tests. I read an article after googling "racist mathematics" and it tells the story of a student that always liked math, but felt she was ignored in her Calculus class and ended up with a D-. The fact is, she should've never been taking Calculus, since she only got a D in Pre-Calculus. In my high school days, the mid to late 90s, you wouldn't be allowed to take Calculus unless you got a B or better in pre-calculus and only the smartest students in the school were even taking Calculus to begin with. Now it seems kids are just pushed onto the next course so they can be misled into thinking they're more capable than they are and unfortunately go into debt attending universities when they should just enter the workplace or attend a local community college and take specialized classes for a particular career. |

I had a horrible Algebra 1 teacher as a Freshman, but went on to complete Calculus and Advanced Math/Trigonometry in high school. I also completed two courses of Calculus in college. I'm saying this because I never really got a handle on Algebra until several years later when I worked as a Special Education assistant back at my old school and essentially took Sophomore through Senior classes all over again. Now, I think Algebra is fantastic.

A lot of states require 4 years of math. The issue is the no child left behind. If they kid still doesn't understand fractions by the time they get to high school, what do we do? Can't have a 16 year old 8th grader. Do we track students at an early age like Asian countries? Just imagine the can of worms that would open if we started doing that. There really isn't an end all solution for the US educational system.

I enjoy cooking and do the majority of it. I also do all the heavy physical labor and probably a disproportionate amount of the cleaning too. My wife changes the diapers 90% of the time. With two kids in diapers I may even have the winning end of the deal. |

I reject the idea that using any term in a scornful or even derisive way is "hate speech". I've heard this now about the terms "woke" and "SJW" and I just fundamentally disagree. Even "Preppie", "Jock", "evangelical", "Karen" and "braniac" do not qualify as hate speech in my opinion.
