I'm working in the Hanover, Baltimore, Ft Meade area the next couple of weeks? Any shop recommendations that deal in the drek? I think Twilite Zone Comics and Cosmic Comix may be promising. Any other suggestions?

If you don't mind a drive (hour drive or so depending on where you are) I would suggest Brainstorm Comics in Walkersville MD. Large selection of back issues. I think Third Eye comics and Basement comics aren't too far from you either, but I've not been to those shops.

I don't believe this....and I know you don't care that I don't believe this. GAC private msg quote post Address this user
Here's a few...I'm not familiar with them but based on some photos they looked promising. Maybe google the names and get a better idea if they're any good and their locations.

Would highly recommend third eye comics. Favorite comic book store I’ve been too by far. They have multiple locations but Annapolis was the first and is the largest store. It’d take too long to list everything they sell so just look up pictures of the store and you’ll get a good idea. Also been to comics to astonish although not their Columbia location, but they have a good back issue selection that’s always kept nicely.

I went to Cosmic and Twilite Zone today. Someone recommended Cards, Comics & Collectibles. I might try that tomorrow and another store if I get out of work early enough.

You beat me to it @SpiderTim. I stopped there Sunday and picked up some Marvel Team Up and Two In One issues. Good back issue selection. I'm going to try and go to To Be Continued in Crofton after I get off. Then Tales to Astonish Comics tomorrow or Thursday. I need to stop back at Twilite Zone and stock up on some supplies too.

Went to Comics to Astonish today. It was ok. Picked up a couple issues but a lot of rags in the back issue boxes. Nice crew working. To Be Continued Comics in Crofton will be my last stop before I deuce out on Monday.

@Studley_Dudley Cool you’re in my part of town I’ll share a few stories from the early 90s:
Twilite Zone is where I bought my TMNT #s 2,3 & 4.
It was a choice between those 3 or the #1. UGHH!!
I’ve never been to Comics to Astonish but I remember the owner used to set up at local shows I sold him my Action #252 for I think $50. Again UGHH!!
The shop I miss the most is Bookcom in Millersville that was the hangout. The owners bought a storage unit collection for a few thousand which I think at the time was worth about $175K It had darn near all the Marvel and DC Silver age titles. The big 3 we’re not in there - Showcase 4, AF 15 & FF 1 - but everything else was. I remember about a week after they bought it Steve Geppi came in and dropped about $25K. I bought from the collection the ASM 14, 50 and the FF 48 but sold them all years ago.
I’ve never been to To Be Continued please share your thoughts I might go check it out.

Twilite Zone Comics was ok. Hot in the store because the AC was having issues. Good selection of back issues and tons of Mylites and Fullbacks. You better believe that I stocked up. Wall books were meh but the staff was good.

Cosmic Comics had an ok selection of back issues, not much in the way of wall books. Toys, games and new comics seemed to be their specialty but a super clean store too.

Cards, Comics & Collectibles is a large store but felt unorganized and that the space wasn't utilized correctly. Had nice pull out drawers for back issues but some of the drawers were packed so tight that I couldn't easily peruse the stock. I did get some nice run fillers but I hate clutter when I go to a shop. I also hate sitting on the floor to go through boxes of BA and CA books that aren't filed away in the fancy drawers.

@Murmonster I will provide a detailed review tomorrow after I go.

@Studley_Dudley One of my best friends used to work at Twilite Zone haven’t been in there for about a year now but I agree it’s s nice little shop the owner Bumper is a cool dude.
My mechanic is right next to the strip mall where Cosmic Comics is but I’ve never been in there I’ll have to check it out.
Never been in CCC either but have went by it lots of times I need to step it up.

Another cool memory of Twilite Zone is they hosted a Jim Lee signing shortly after X-Men 1 came out that’s a small shop lots of people came but it was organized well.

To Be Continued in Crofton was far and away the best shop I went to while I was here. Bronze and silver back issues plus actual keys on the wall. Real keys, not the fly by night keys like FF 353 but the real ones like SS 4, NM 98, JIM Annual 1, Avengers 1, GL 87, FF 48, etc. The store itself is kinda small but the space is well used. Pricing was fair, and staff super friendly. They said if I ever came back for work to shoot them a list of books and they can pull them from storage. Lots of slabs too from CBCS and the crappy grading company.

I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for. drchaos private msg quote post Address this user
I would highly recommend Third Eye comics. Their customer service is excellent. I haven't been to their other locations but their Annspolis store is huge.
