I learned this little trick at a get-together about a week ago: For a whiskey sour or similar drink, use a spoon to drizzle a floater of red wine on top (Shiraz was recommended but others work). It stays separated. makes for a cool looking cocktail (looks like a candle) and in my opinion it seems to neutralize the acidity a bit.

The fancy dancy cocktail I been making with the wine floater on top of the whisky sour-ish drink. Pretty cool looking I think:

Rum and coke. Multiple. Correction, many.

Recently bought a racing simulator rig. Wife didnā€™t drink tonight so friendly ā€œwagerā€ on who can turn the faster times on the ā€œtrackā€ā€¦ once she puts baby to bedā€¦

I am staunchly against drinking and driving but I am also incredibly curiousā€¦ so interested to see the resultsā€¦

A double, a single, annnnd probably one more . . .

The wife suggested ā€œJack in the Boxā€ for a late dinner (via DoorDash) & I agreed.

In other words, I should have stopped after the first double.

Michael Jackson, the beer guru, not the performer, introduced me to DT at a beer tasting. So good!

@EbayMafia LOL. I think that it is repackaged grain. Didnā€™t feel so adventurous, so went with the Balvenie 12. My buddies were feeling pretty generous this year, so got some other presents. Cheers!

Every year there is a huge fair on the square where I live. Best part for me the last several years is the wine tasting tent they have set up. Black's Fairy Meadery has set up there and they end up being one of the biggest draws every year. I'll go on record and say that I have tried several different types of meade and I can't say that I'm a fan.
This stuff is completely different. They have a bunch of different flavors and I haven't found one that I haven't disliked yet. You can pretty much only get it on line or at their shop. I've been looking forward to the fair for the past month just just I can sample every one they had. This was my personal favorite by far.

If you want to take a chance and try it, here is their website. Very highly recommended. Just an FYI, the bottles are only 375ml (12.6 oz) but still completely worth it.

Does anyone know enough to teach me a bit about Brandy or Cognac? Whenever I come across them at the liquor store I wonder who drinks them, how they are drank and why that choice?

@EbayMafia I studied brandy and cognac at the library. Brandy Library.

The education I received was intoxicating.

Absent access to a great library, I recommend a high quality sampler.

Great line of reasoning there. Popularity to determine quality.

Works for music, right? Definitely works for food and drink too, hahaha.
