Yea - between refunding the customers all fees associated with grading as well as compensating them for the decreased value due to the drop damage I’m out of pocket about $1100. Between that and going three months with no responses from CBCS when I emailed, called, Facebook messaged, Instagram commented, forum posts, approached them at conventions requesting a calm, rational discussion, etc. has left me pretty sad and bitter about the whole thing.

They never even bothered to ask for the before and after pictures - just three months of trying to get a response to be told they aren’t interested in helping 😓

Thanks, any submission to CGC or CBCS valued at over $200 I take pictures before sending using Googles PhotoScan app. I also put my own pre-grader notes in an Excel spreadsheet to compare against what comes back.

I submit 5,000+ books per year so thorough records and organization is key.

It is from the PhotoScan app made by Google so a mixture of both I guess?

It’s a pretty crunched corner - caused a fair drop in value to the book and lowers its eye appeal.

Gotcha, I don't submit books like you do so maybe thats the problem but good old fashioned before pics like your after pic go a long way. I don't trust a scan anymore.

I would like to add that when a signing is involved, it enhances the risk. I've had books damaged by the creator doing the signing. I had one book with a coke ring on the back cover. I had a sketch cover come back with ink all over the back cover. Came back an 8.5 from the cgc and I sold it like a dumb ass. Every submission is a risk and sometimes shit happens.

The sketch cover was Loki by Mike Lilly. I would love to have it back if anyone ever sees it for sale or knows who owns it.

@ferant316 I'm sorry this happened to you and I'm sorry there was no resolution to be had. I understand that CBCS has to limit their liability on these things but also I for one appreciate how you brought your issue onto the forum in a professional and dignified manner. Unlike a couple others recently who came on huffing and puffing and blowing smoke. It certainly lends credibility to your version of events.
