I just don't see how this could be a 9.615193

When I seen this book listed in Canada, I was tempted to offer. But upon inspecting it, I just don't understand how this could possibly be graded so high. I mean I know they give silver age books more leeway but still... a 9.6?!

agreed, that book is not a 9.6

8.5 - 9.0 if I didn't see that book in a slab

In MHO, it's CGC so you know it's over graded. I'd give it 7.0 to 7.5 at best.

Wow - I wont jump on the CGC hate train too quick as I think they do a good job (same with CBCS) but that looks too generous.

I have an 8.5 from them (ss Batman 227) that appears flawless with no tick marks etc… have seen both directions for sure but this one looks so off that I am nearly confused…

Still a sharp copy, but not a 9.6.

That staple and the crease at the top right corner take it well out of the 9 range, whether it's silver age or not.

CGC definitely screwed that grade up, either that or somethings been tampered with.

CGC screwed that up, without a doubt. Looks like an 8.0. As I’m lazy, has anyone checked out when it was graded?

Oh, yeah. I have a 9.4 that looks like it got squashed during encapsulation.

I'm not even going to say anything. I'll lose it.
Hopefully the Blackstone acquisition and the other changes they've made will elevate that entity from a Mickey Mouse Club to something marginally resembling a business that knows what they're doing.

After looking at the scans again, I don't think it would have been mishandled that much.

I've bought from Georges before and he has to see that there's no way it's a 9.6 despite what the label says. Possible mix up in slabbing. Maybe there were a couple copies that were sent in.

that full inch corner crease drops it way past 9.0 ...uffff. If that's a 9.6 I better send in my two extra copies that look 6.0-7.0 ish. Maybe ill get a 9.9

It was relisted, I am not trying to bash cgc but this can't be accurate. People should always buy with caution even when the book is encapsulated.

I posted this on the other boards...

I know this could be CGC's fault all the way but it is equally if not greater on the seller. The seller is taking advantage of a mistake and putting it out on the market with no shame.

I have dealt with this dealer/seller before and they did some shady stuff, like jacking the price after I made an inquiry about an item they had on there website and ebay, stating "market value". After this incident I did a search and found some google review that reiterate the same that happened to me in my experience.

You can check for yourself.. They are called MG Comics in Montreal Canada, google them.

Seems like more then half of the reviews are from the owners and their family.

I'd like to say I still turned out alright, but that would be a lie. flanders private msg quote post Address this user
We should be bashing the seller for not making CGC aware of their mistake. It's not like this is a 9.2 that got a generous grade, it's in the 6.5 range with those defects. Maybe post it on the CGC forum if it hasn't been done so already and see if they'll step in to not have that eyesore giving their company a bad reputation.

Unfortunately my offer was auto declined:

There is already a discussion going on on the CGC boards..

But for the seller to re-list the book is astonishing.

nice to have a sanity check, isn't it?

no one thinks this is a 9.6

Clearly, it's a 9.6. It says so on the label.

Collector Sebastsk8 private msg quote post Address this user
I would assume this is a labeling error. I know some people seem to think cgc is more lenient, but that is far beyond just leniency.

There have been labeling errors recently brought up about cbcs too, with wrong titles and grades on the labels etc, it happens.

While the grading company definitely messed up, the seller is being extremely shady by selling this at 9.6 price and just hoping some dummy doesn't look at pics well enough.

And he will get exactly what he paid for. He paid for a slab that says 9.6, regardless of the condition of the comic. He buys grades, we buy comic books.
