That’s an awesome looking coin but an ounce of silver is only worth $26. Why so much? Mints release lots of coins and bullion in scarcity, but the cost is more closely representing if the value. Amy idea why the sale price is $109?

commemorative and limited mint coins are always higher cost that "bullion" coins. It's 109 Canadian which is about $86 US. That's slightly more than the us mint is charging for one ounce silver coin commemoratives this year ( $85).

They also do more to these coins. The strike used to create the high relief finish is very different than the silver eagles (or in this case maple leaves); you would get in a 20-25 coin tube. I will say I agree in general. When silver was in the $20/ounce range, these used to cost $35-40. When silver shot up during the global collapse of '08 the prices of commemoratives rose in concert, but never seemed to come back down. In fact, they've climbed steadily, seemingly detached from material costs.

Edit: also, sorry this is off-topic to your selling thread; but some bumps on some nice books up for sale.

I am always amazed that Canda has these great things, dinosaurs on silver and coins. Most of them feature artwork by a friend of mine that I have on Facebook, Julius Cysotoni. He is this generations perhaps most prolific paleo-artist, and usually new scientific discoveries are published with artwork he was hired to do....museums grace their walls with his paintings and panels featuring prehistoric life, and Canada and the US have also tapped him in the past to produce sets of postal stamps. Super nice guy, and extremely intelligent, it is fun to review his posts at times . I often buy his work just due to the fact he was the one who did the artwork. I intend to send him a panel of his stamps to autograph when I can remember to do so.
he has drawn quite a few dinosaurs that are similar in age and would be distant or similar cousins to the dinosaur I have mounted in my home that I named Genghis Nim.Great artist, awesome guy and love his work. I wonder how many fees and duties would be needed to import those type of coins he makes.

I've bought from Canadian mint before. Pretty sure it was pretty typical taxes/shipping.

Mintage number on that coin is 10000. Any one really want to scratch their heads? Search the site for maple leaf .9999 . It's true condition is everything (being direct from a national mint probably 68 69 or70) but in neusmatics mintage number is the deciding factor. Kind of like the 1:1000 variant for lack of a better comparison.
