@GAC

Classic Blackmore riffage for sure and that fun solo.

This one is even worse / better for me…

Edit: following a drive and then listening to Painkiller I had the urge to pickup my guitar and shred… blew a fuse 5 seconds in.

@Davethebrave Always loved Priest....I remember at the time before I heard this song, I was exposed to heavier music like Metallica, Megadeth etc and I didn't move on from Priest but the heavier bands captured my attention for the time....then I heard Painkiller...blew me away...great track and definitely a drive fast song. love it!!

@Davethebrave Saw the Priest 3 times in the early 80's along with about every other heavy metal group.
80's metal ruled.

I have tried to listen to new 2020 metal and can't do it. Doesn't even come close.
Those of us who were metal heads in the 80's were spoiled by the best there ever was or will be.

Every era has great music. Some just require more effort to dig through the dung to get at the good stuff.

Great idea (I've included years and location where possible, with occasional approximations; this list is far from complete):

The Who (once, in '76, Myriad Convention Center, OKC)
Rolling Stones (once, early 80's, Cotton Bowl supported by ZZ TOP)
Black Sabbath (three times, once in '76, twice in '78, in OKC then in Dallas; Van Halen opened)
Procol Harum (twice, in '73, Civic Center, OKC, and once in '92 Dallas)
ZZ Top (three times, in '76, OKC Fairgrounds, supporting the Stones, Cotton Bowl early 80's and 2008, Nokia Center, Grand Prairie, filmed for BD)
Eric Burdon (once, part of a large summer outdoor show supporting ZZ Top)
CSN&Y (once, headlining a world tour, supported by The Beach Boys, '74)
Alice Cooper (once 1979; Lloyd Noble Center/Arena)
UFO (twice, supporting Jethro Tull in early '75 and in '78)
BOC (twice, the first co-headlining with UFO in '78 and then in 2010)
Yes (once, in '79, Myriad convention center)
Spirit (Randy California, twice, in '87 and at a Dallas club performance in '94)
Joe Bonamassa (many times, 2002 - 2008, Dallas, Ardmore, Wichita Falls, etc.)
AC/DC (once, '82)
Rush (twice, '78 & 2004 in an outdoor performance; Texas Fairgrounds)
Bad Company (once, '79)
Heart (once, '78)
Pat Benatar (once, '79)
Blizzard of Oz (Ozzie, w/Randy Rhodes, Lloyd Noble Arena/Center '82)
Genesis (once, '82)
Foreigner (twice, '82 and a less memorable performance around 2005)
Deep Purple (three times '76, '85 & 2001; second was Blackmore, Gillan, Glover, Lord & Paice)
Nazareth (support for Deep Purple '76)
Humble Pie (once in '73, supported by Foghat and JoJo Gunne
Jethro Tull (once '75, supported by UFO)
Aerosmith (once, as part of the Texxas Jam '78, Cotton Bowl)
Journey (once, part of the Texxas Jam, Cotton Bowl)
REO Speedwagon (once, part of the Texxas Jam, Cotton Bowl)
Steppenwolf, (several times, 80's 90's & 2000's; various clubs & outdoor venues)
Grand Funk Railroad (once, in 1998 Texas State Fairgrounds)
Robin Trower (once, 2017, House of Blues)
ELP (10/27/1977, Myriad)

Rare footage of the Eric Burdon Band I found on YouTube (this incarnation of the band was only around for a couple albums, but a powerful group live. I saw them outdoors on a very hot day at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds, same bill with ZZ Top's Worldwide Tour (opened semi-trailer with buffalo and long horned steer sharing the stage) as headliners...

Only 3 major attendances for me....

KISS - 1979
RUSH - 1987
PINK FLOYD - 1995

While typing, I noticed that ironically there is an 8 year period gap between each show.
