I've almost made it through one day of auctions after planning to not buy any comics over cover price until 2022.

July isn't even half way over. You'll fall off the wagon quicker than a vegetarian in the Donner party.

I've bid way more than I want to spend on one book, Superman 30. I'm waiting for someone to outbid me so I can be free again to bid on other books.

I won the Superman 30, first appearance Mr. Mxyztplk, always a book I've had on the list. I'm a little in shock. I think I might puke.

I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for. drchaos private msg quote post Address this user
@EbayMafia

Nice book!

You got Mxyztpik and I got Toyman.

Thanks, I just wish it was a more interesting cover. It's one of the more boring ones...but at least it's yellow.
Time to go markdown my books at MCS for quick sale and raise some dough by the end of the week!

@EbayMafia nice book, enjoy the debt, but if you're looking for a decent way to reduce your expenses Chase Sapphire Preferred is giving 100,000 bonus points = $1000 cash back if you spend $4000 the first 3 months of opening an account and it has a $95 annual fee. I'm not sure what other credit card deals are out there, but this may be an option, although it can take up to 30 days to be approved. Let me know if you're interested and I'll split the $200 referral fee bonus with you.

@flanders bummer, I just did something like that about 3 days ago. I wasn't thinking of using it for this purchase but that's a good idea.

somebody should buy this Thunder Agents #1 at $66. Cool Wally Wood cover in an undervalued #1. I have a similar grade in PGX slab:

@GAC Did you see where it ended? Ran all the way to $165. Still a way underpriced book by todays standards, in my opinion.

I saw that...I bid it up but the winner must have had a really high max bid. I think it's time I send mine in to CBCS....its a great book...Wally Wood is fantastic...a lot of 1st appearances too.

I've decided that if I don't share my auction wins, it means I haven't won anything and am still sticking to my goal of no purchases over cover price until 2022.

And somehow I thought i might win the CBCS 9.8 Transformer 1 for a below marke bid of $1,700.

Oh well

@Scifinator it looks like someone took a cheese grater to the back of that Transformers cover. The CGC 9.8 newsstand copy on MCS looks far cleaner. You should be happy you were outbid:

@flanders - thanks, i would have been fine with it though as I believe it is manufacture related and the cover was good.

I have noticed that while I am still losing auctions, I am losing them for less money. The gap between what I would pay and what they are closing for is shrinking.

So either you are being conditioned by the higher prices, or prices are coming down? Or 3rd option is that you are focusing on stuff that less bidders are going after?

Do record sales only happen at comiclink, HA, and CC? Seems like we had some discounts at MCS.
